So I'm using mull on android and every time I switch tab and return, be it for a second, the webpage reloads. Is there a setting I can adjust here to stop this from happening?

Apparently I wasn't clear enough in my other post. When I focus on the URL bar on a search page with either CMD L or by clicking it, I want to be able to just copy the phrase "lemmy" instead of having to select the text from https://www.google.com/search?q=lemmy. If I type search queries with spaces in them, the spaces are replaced with +s in the URL so I can't easily copy them.

I updated my firefox from 119.0.1 to 121.0 two days ago, and have noticed a for my usage quite significant change:
When I have a page, say a search engine query or a gallery of links on a page, and I open one then go back, previously I got the cached version. Within reason of the cache size I could go back a few pages even days later and critically see them as they where, just like I would expect for a tab I have open.

I use this behavior to work through essentially todo lists, so now that the lists get reloaded every time I visit them, this combines with server side caching to make the list jump around quite annoyingly.
My expected behavior would be the cached back history being served when available, except when I manually hit F5.

Was this change intentional? Is there any way to get the old behavior back?

Edit:
It seems to be a bug and only happen on some profiles, potentially dependent on some metric related to heavy use, like number of open tabs and windows.
Edit:
It seems to be related to uBlock Origin.
Edit:
It is definitely an issue within ubo, I will add a link to the issue there when I create it.
Edit:
It seems to be caused by the "AdGuard Tracking Protection" filter list within ubo.
Edit: issues:
ubo filters: https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uAssets/issues/21841
AdguardFilters: https://github.com/AdguardTeam/AdguardFilters/issues/170172
Edit:
It was fixed a few minutes ago, the changes should percolate through to ubo soon™. Thx Yuki2718.

I've been told about Mull and fennec, but what about:

(From what I understand)

  • Firefox Focus: blocks trackers and erases browsing history
  • Firefox Nightly: new updates every night
  • Firefox Klar: german version of focus
  • Iceraven Browser: 3rd party fork with more add ons

I love Firefox and I used it on and off for many years. Right now I am using Brave because I just prefer the look and feel of it. I want to move to Firefox again but I just can't stand the way the tabs look on Firefox. They are too big and ugly and it's not great on a laptop, etc. Once you have a few open then they are not readable anymore. What are some ways to change the look?

I often do searches with multiple search engines and extras with the same query but with site:reddit.com added at the end. Being able to press CMD L to focus the URL bar, and then CMD C with all the text selected would make things a lot faster. This was added months ago to Firefox but it looks like it was removed now.

Their text:

Hello, Happy New Year! I am excited to share some fantastic news to start 2024: we reached our goal of raising $3,300,000 USD in grassroots donations from the Mozilla community before the end of 2023!

Here’s how the Mozilla community came together in the final six weeks of the year:

An incredible 34,667 of us made a donation to reclaim the internet since Giving Tuesday, including 14,972 who made their first-ever gift to Mozilla; More than 3,000 of us donated our voices to Mozilla Common Voice, recording more than 90,000 clips to make voice recognition systems more accessible; And 1,181 of us started a monthly gift to sustain Mozilla’s non-profit work. Because of this support from the Mozilla community, we’ll be able to do even more of what Mozilla does best: holding irresponsible tech companies accountable, advocating for your privacy, and investing in the people, ideas, and organisations who will help reclaim the internet.

Thanks for everything you do for the internet.

@firefox should implement bangs. Most people I know don't know #bangs exist. #wishlist

The print preview is taking about 2 minutes to generate in Firefox, and for the last 15 seconds the entire Firefox window becomes unresponsive. I am only "printing" to a PDF to save, and I have no printers connected to my (modern) laptop.

When I tried on Chrome for comparison, it takes about 30 seconds (still a ridiculous amount of time) but without the freezing behavior.

I tried setting print.prefer_system_dialog to false (which does not generate a preview that I can see), but Firefox still takes just as long to pop up the system dialog and the window still freezes.

I only really care about fixing the problem with Firefox. Any suggestions are welcome, thanks!

Info:

  • Mozilla Firefox 121.0
  • Google Chrome 120.0.6099.129
  • 11th gen Intel laptop on Arch Linux

Do you enjoy our new Internet #cookiepower? I find the whole cookies agreements thing useless. It would be ideal if @firefox could allow a "Accept All COokies" button in the settings and so it automatically answers this question for me. I don't care who has my cookies. I really don't. Honestly.

I found the flag to disable it, but I'm really curious why the decision was made in the first place. On Chrome and Firefox, l If you double click this example HTML5 : https://www.w3schools.com/html/html5_video.asp, it will go full screen. I've always wondered why sometimes click on a video would make it go fullscreen, it's laggy and annoying for me, even on high-end laptops. On My Mac, as well as in Windows and Fedora VMs.

Any way to disable Firefox suggest from showing open tabs?

I've disabled all the options for Firefox Suggest but it still insists on showing me my open tabs. Any way to disable this feature entirely?

So, downloaded this a while ago, and decided to give it a try, and.... Well, if'n you asked me last year, I would've given it a thumbs up, but this year, not so much. I'm on LMDE, and it's only available as a FlatPak, with a choice of one.ablaze.floorp V11.4 or Floorp Lightning V11.7. Considering that their site says 11.7 is current, it made sense to switch. Their big claim to fame is the customizability of the browser, and I'd've agreed with you last week when I was running 11.4, I had the bookmark bar at the bottom, and the tab bar under the toolbar. Problem is that yesterday I realized (yeah, dunno how I hadn't noticed for hours) that those were back in the standard FireFox locations, so I went to fix it... Ummm, those customizations seem to be gone. Other problems do seem to be fixed, in the old version, you'd click a link, and nothing would happen for seconds, and then suddenly the new page was there. Some of my log ins don't seem to stick, which is annoying. Over all though, it does work fine.

So, in the end, without the customization, there's not much point to it, you get a status bar at the bottom of the window that seems to be little more than a waste of space. Sure, I like the Thunderbird like toolbar on the side, and having random pics from my wallpapers folder show up as the launch page background is cool, but... Well, I could live without those, assuming I can't find extensions to add them to FireFox.

Sadly, this gets a thumbs down from me. Any of y'all try it?

there are more options that I thought. Any reason to go with Tridactyl's competitors?

After a bit of confusion, I found out why my #Firefox was being laggy on some website despite me turning off Javascript.

Turns out I had set layers.acceleration.disabled while debugging V-Sync.

What this setting does is effectively disable hardware acceleration for a core component of page compositing; making everything laggy.

Mess with settings in a dedicated guinea profile people!

Websites like ipv6-test.com and test-ipv6.com say that my browser is using IPv4 by default.

This happens on Firefox and LibreWolf. I have tried creating a new profile without add-ons as well. Ungoogled Chromium uses IPv6 by default. If I go to ifconfig.io using Firefox, IPv4 is displayed. But if I use Ungoogled Chromium, IPv6 is displayed.

Is there a way to force IPv6?

I am not bothered by this, but using tools like ping6 and traceroute6 assures me that IPv6 routing is faster for, at least, one of my ISPs.

Facebook (I know) is forcing me to revive a code via a phone number to "prove I'm real". I figured this would be a good usecase for relay phone numbrrs, but thus far I haven't revived any codes after many attempts.

Anyone else experience this?
