Even with Https only mode disabled it corrects i2p sites to https which prevents the connection, is there any way to disable this?

Does anybody have the same issue? I noticed 20 minutes ago that my tls profile stopped working. I’m now flooded by apps and surfing the internet is a pain again.

I tried to turn off mobile data and turning it back on again but that didn’t help. Does anybody know why it stopped working?

It used to work just fine, but recently the app doesn't launch. It seems to be on in Task Manager, but still CPU reading is 0%. No mini icon or GUI available.

Please help

Hi there,

I have the following problem:

I'm using Ubuntu 22.04 and the Linux Mullvad GUI Client. When I establish a VPN connection the DNS Server in the /etc/resolv.conf changes from the local one to one of mullvads DNS Servers. That makes sense for privacy reasons and resolving internet adresses.

The problem is, that I still need the local DNS Server to resolve names for the local network. The background is, that I am using a citrix VM and I need to keep the connection to the citrix controller.

How can I establish to keep the local DNS Server and "only" add Mullvads DNS Server for resolving internet adresses?

Thanks

Marvin

Consider me an absolute beginner. I've used Mullvad long before moving to Linux and on Windows it's very easy to permanently exclude applications (split-tunnel).

On Linux it seems everytime I want to boot an app I have to go through Mullvad first to boot it just so it starts as a split-tunnel. This is obviously very tedious but is absolutely dreadful for certain apps that I have starting at boot that I need split-tunneled (for latency reasons)

Does anyone know how I can add a permanent split-tunnel flag or argument of some time to apps on Linux so that I don't need to go through Mullvad to get them to split-tunnel?

I am using both Garuda Linux running KDE Plasma 6

And

ZorinOS 17 running GNOME

Is there any way to use torrents on Mullvad and be connectable to other peers? I've heard I should use port forwarding and that it was disabled last year.

Mullvad is really stable and lets me pick out which outgoing server I want and download a conf file so I can put my whole LAN on the VPN. This is the only snag, I would now have to send qBitTorrent traffic around my router to make it work.

Hi!

So recently I’ve been looking to swap from NordVPN to Mullvad but I’m seeing a lot of people flagging about captchas and websites not working. At this point I’m thinking maybe it’s just confirmation bias, so I’m wondering if those who use Mullvad daily can give me their experience with captchas and other inconviniences with Mullvad.

I use NordVPN atm. It’s shit for privacy but I have not gotten a single captcha, broken website or any of those things in over a year. And I basically have it on at all times. Could this be expected from Mullvad aswell? Or does it take alot of tinkering?

PS sorry for my shitty english

I'm honestly not sure where to post this: /r/openwrt or here. Maybe both?

Basically, I finally acquired a half-decent device that supports the latest OpenWrt (ASUS AC1200). The only thing is, my previous device was a GL.iNet, and they have built-in support for Mullvad. The new one has no connection with GL.iNet at all. With GL.iNet's built-in interface, you can switch between servers really fast. I believe they support AzireVPN and Mullvad on OpenVPN, and NordVPN and Mullvad on WireGuard. They claim support for 30 VPN providers on the box, but I'm not sure where those 30 providers are hiding. It's not very 1337 or whatever, but it's really useful when trying to find a VPN server that isn't blocked by a specific site. The current method of manually configuring, downloading, and setting up a new WireGuard config and keys works if you're just setting up one connection for weeks or months ahead, but it doesn't really work if you plan on changing servers more tactically.

With that, three questions:

a) Is there something like this already available, either for Mullvad specifically or a more general OpenWrt package that I can configure?

b) If there is none, would it be a problem if I wrote a package like that? I was planning to keep the UI features to a minimum at first, probably starting with a terminal app accessible over SSH, and then integrating it into LuCI.

c) What is the proper etiquette for cross-posting this to /r/openwrt?

With any VPN provider, an occasional issue is being blocked from accessing some websites. But why is it these websites always seem to hide the fact that they are doing it?

Reddit for example will often give a message saying your network is blocked, but then allow you the option to login. But if you then try to login, it will sometimes just keep failing to login for no apparent reason.

My bank does a similar thing, as does one of the crypto sites I use. They just give various different errors, making it seem like you're using the wrong credentials, or that the website is broken. When in reality it is just blocking the VPN connection.

Is there some reason they do this? Or do they just have a buggy filter in place?

Every time when I purchase Mullvad, it doesn’t give me the full 30 days.

Instead, I’ll just give me around 28 days instead of 30?

I assume it’s going based on the calendar?

Is there a way to include apps with Split tunneling instead of excluding? Say I wanted to use the VPN on one or two apps, it would be a pain to add every other running app.

Thanks

First i have to say the Mullvad has almost no Issues with anything i throw at it, not like some others i used.

However i recently tried to use USPS to book a pickup but the site couldn't be accessed and timed out after a while with "Hmm. We’re having trouble finding that site.", after i turned off the VPN everything worked like it should.

It is USPS so no real harm done.

Hello everyone, I wanted to know if there is a way to use mullvad through my firewall. I have a list of blocked hosts but when I use mullvad it ignores them because the query is made to the mullvad servers and not to the final server and the device can not block the hots. I try to pass it with my own DNS but it still ignores them.

Hi! I was trying to set up mullvad to handle q bittorrent. Tried docker and podman containers with gluetun and privoxy, deploying with compose and ansible. with wireguard and openvpn. and all the possible combinations

And after struggling so much... and crying, and feeling stupid and frustrated. I gave up.

I just tried mullvad cli and works fine, so probably I'm going to do it just with the cli.

but, I'm finding it hard to find a guide to make it to work only with qbittorrent ip. (it's going to be deployed with a container, tho)

would appreciate some help! thanks!

I’ve been using Mullvad with NextDNS. I’ve checked the logs and allowed and whitelist anything that would let instagram work as intended. I’ve noticed lately that instagram only loads a few post (like 4-5 post) and then it’s not loading the rest and it’s happening this issue more when using celular internet thru T-Mobile. Is Mullvad possibly blocking something that won’t show in the logs of NextDNS and caused it not to load? Or am I screwed to use instagram with a vpn?

I know this is a strange thing to request on reddit itself but can reddit domains be added to the social media block list? I know its meant to block social media tracking but it would be helpful for my use case (limiting time on social media). Thanks!

Hi, I have two PCs on Mullvad VPN, on the same account. One of them is running an SSH server. Can I connect to it from other VPN-connected devices that use my account?

I have been using Mullvad VPN on my iPhone, iPad, and Linux PCs for a while now. However, in the past few months, I've been experiencing issues with it. The VPN keeps disconnecting and attempts to reconnect, but I have to manually reconnect every 5 to 10 minutes. This has made it almost unusable on any platform. What could be the reason for this?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been experiencing connection issues with Mullvad VPN for the past 1-2 years and could use some advice.

I use OpenVPN on UDP because it generally works well for me. However, when I switch to TCP on the same server, the connection either reconnects every 5-10 minutes or fails to connect at all on both ports 80 and 5001. I encounter a similar problem with WireGuard—UDP doesn’t work for me at all. When I switch WireGuard to TCP, it behaves like OpenVPN on TCP, frequently reconnecting or failing to connect.

For context, I live in a country with censorship.

Any suggestions on how to resolve these issues?

If you are proxying to mullvad servers on firefox or mullvad browser (or any other browser) using the mullvad browser extension or using proxy settings in firefox multi-account containers without first using a mullvad proxy host setting in browser settings then your dns will be leaking.

In this example i used italy server on mullvad app and usa proxy on mullvad extension in mullvad browser.

DNS Leak!

Blank browser proxy settings = DNS Leak

Mullvad browser extension and connection check website shows there is no leak when there is. At least it should flag yellow and give heads up to users "Hey look you might have a dns leak" and then give detail whether correct proxy settings have been applied.

Not everyone is advanced user so most users are going to be under false impression of security especially when mullvad extension and mullvad connection check page implies that everything is perfect.

To fix it:

When using WireGuard protocol:

SOCKS Proxy Server:

10.64.0.1 : 1080

When using OpenVPN protocol:

SOCKS Proxy Server:

10.8.0.1 : 1080

https://mullvad.net/en/help/socks5-proxy

Apply correct settings

No more DNS leak!
