Synthwave

New video clip from Gunship, Taste Like Venom coming in soon in the next album.

I'm sure many of you are familiar with the Finnish synth/retrowave group known as Nightstop. Albums of theirs like "Streetwalker" and the single, "Drive by Stalking" have been staples in the genre for years.

Well, I'm here to tell you that their new album is very different from their previous works. It's a surprisingly magnificent evolution and easily a masterpiece!

Here's the description from their website (cleaned up for English):

"DEAD GIRLS DON'T DANCE" (2023) is a more-sinister and dangerous dark electro than our previous Streetwalker synthwave-style releases. The album is inspired by the ultraviolent "Berserk" manga and anime classics like "Akira" and "Cyber City Oedo 808". It's a love letter to 80s and 90s Japanese cyberpunk pop culture with a pinch of western imagination. The atmosphere revolves around themes of despair, trust, and betrayal in a Blade-Runner-style dystopia with blade-wielding androids mixed with occult demons and devils.

I've been enjoying ORAX. Not as synth heavy as some of my other favourites, but it has a great vibe.

Finally got round to really listening to the excellent Blood Machines soundtrack and discovered that the ending of Grand Finale has something familar layered gently in there.

The reprisal comes in at around 5 minutes. Really nice touch from Carpenter Brut! The whole thing is fire, but I especially loved this track, the title theme and Soul's Wreck.

You may have come across this song in some meme or other strange internet videos. This melancholic, retro tune, caught my ear instantly.

They are my absolute favorites of the album, and easily in my top-10 favorite tunes, all category !

Found this album recently and was pleasantly surprised! I often listen to chillwave/dreamwave as background music, but find a lot of it kinda unremarkable. This is is definitely a cut above, imo.

I would like to present you another French artist, that puts out some real' nice mix of Synth, Chiptunes and Metal. If you like Carpenter Brut this might be your jam as well! Not sure if this qualifies as Synthwave, though. If not, the mod can remove it, I won't get upset ;-)

Dance with the Dead is a band from California, whose music style tips maybe more towards rock/metal, I am personally very found of.

The tune that got me hooked to synthwave !
