I'm in my 40s and still put ketchup on my hotdogs. Also, I still eat hotdogs.

[โ€“] [email protected] 44 points 1 year ago (1 children)

puts down bun

Were we supposed to stop at some point?

[โ€“] [email protected] 24 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I notice you didn't put down the hot dog.

[โ€“] [email protected] 23 points 1 year ago (2 children)

This should not shame anyone. Hot dogs are wonderful, and ketchup is a fine additive.

I've been known to put baked beans on mine, and potato chips on my burgers (that salty crunch is grand). Having a kid lets you revisit many of these.

Potato chips on burgers - I like to call that "fat guy lettuce"... Adds a nice crunch.

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Oh god that nice crunch comment brought be back to me being a kid watching muppet babies at 4am in the morning when my cousin stayed with us at the grandparents.

I would eat sour cream, plain potato chips, and tomatoes on a kaiser bun. The saltyness from the chips with the tomatoes and then the tang of sour cream

You should not have to feel ashamed. Come to Denmark. We have perfected the hotdog.

The correct toppings are:

  • Ketchup
  • Mustard (preferably dijon, but some like the sweet variant)
  • Remulade
  • Both raw and roasted onions
  • Slices of pickled cucumber

What's remulade you ask? It is the slightly tangy/sweet thick sauce that ties the whole thing together.

[โ€“] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Not any different than the way I have them, except I don't have remoulade and prefer dill relish instead of whole pickle slices on hot dogs

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Perfected? This isnt a one dog to rule them all world we live in

Not in a world where the 1.50 Costco hotdog exists. This the perfect example of a simple and humble simple hot dog

And also JapadJapadogog would like a word with you

To quote one of my favourite movies "Allah loves wonderous variety"

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

are the cucumbers pickled dill (tart) or sweet?

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I'm in the U.S., and this looks really good to me. Outstanding.

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Damn! Those look amazing!

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

To me, while they taste great on their own, pickles just steal the show of anything I put them on, I can only taste the vinegar... But the rest sounds delicious in its own right!

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

They are mandatory, but don't worry. They are wafer-thin.

I would try that anytime and put mayo and cheese on it.

[โ€“] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago

What the hell is wrong with hot dogs and what are you supposed to put on them if not ketchup (and mustard)?

[โ€“] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

What's wrong with eating hot dogs?

[โ€“] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Not a damn thing, but some people think they are kids food unless you put a bunch of shit on top of them. Looking at you Chicago

[โ€“] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Chicago is super weird about their hotdogs. Like they make it a point to loudly brag about how much better they are for not putting ketchup on hotdogs, but then they put huge pieces of peppers, pickles, and tomato which are impossible to chew through so you end up pulling half the condiments off in the first bite. Also like, you know what condiment contains the flavor combo of sweetness of sweet peppers, vinegar of pickles, and tomato? Fuckin ketchup that's what. I do like the occasional Chicago dog when I visit but they need to chill. Seattle hotdog culture is better: Cream cheese if you want, caramelized onion if you want, and a stack of add-ons nearby to build the thing yourself because IDGAF what you put on it I'm not your mom

Give me simple kraut, onions, and mustard, or a Sanoran dog wrapped in bacon. Pickled salad on my dog sounds vile.

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Just looked up Sonoran hot dogs omg I have to try one

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah, they're as good as they sound. One benefit of living in Tucson.

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Agreed Seattle has this right and cream cheese in your hot dog bun is Godlike

[โ€“] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

Screw those people. Eat what makes you happy, as long as you're not doing it to the point of harming your health. Hot dogs with ketchup and mustard are one of the best foods in the world ๐ŸŒญ๐Ÿ˜

[โ€“] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

It's like a summer barbecue staple alongside burgers around here, and are sold in tons of fast food joints. Why would it he shameful in any way?

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

What's wrong with hot dogs? They're delicious and have lots of protien. I'm with you on the ketchup though.
