Federated universe is a decentralized, federated social media network that is interoperable with each other by using a common protocol.

This is great, but the main problem will remain the same as with Bandcamp. Where are the big artists? Where can I buy the latest digital album from Foo Fighters or Muse ? I have no need for a "limited edition" vinyl disc...

Big bands have no control where their stuff gets distributed. They sign away those rights to the publishers.
