Gotta love MR2s! Here's mine. That's a couple of years ago though, I need to do some work to it but raising kids now!

Man, pop-up headlights are sexy

The MR2’s were woefully undersold. At least in my neck of the woods. Always heard they were a ton of fun. A friend of a friend put a JDM engine in his first gen and it sang very nicely.

A better engine on the first gen is the answer.

What engine did your friend use?

Unfortunately , I don’t know. It was 20+ years ago and I never got the chance ask specifics. I just remember my friend mentioning it and then hearing it drive off after a quick visit.

I've wanted an AW11 ever since I saw my first. Absolutely gorgeous car. Sadly I'm almost certainly too tall.

Then again, I used to own an NA Miata for years, even though my knees came up to the sides of the steering wheel 😂 gotta have those pop-up headlights!

Had a buddy in high school who had something similar. It was like an 84 Datsun 200 or something. Had the raddest dashboard and driver console I've ever seen. Tron-glam fer shure. Very cool. Great share, thanks!

I don't remember Datsun having anything similar to an MR2 back then, not in shape, and certainly not Mid/Rear engine.

I looked up the 200, doesn't remind me of the MR2. Maybe it was something else? (I'd never seen a Datsun 200, so that was a cool thing to lookup for me).

I'd take either of the first 2 gen MR2 (you can keep the gen 3). Great car.

The engineering of Toyota for a MR car.

i had one for about 5 years, gave it up after i had to start doing literal back-alley deals to find parts to keep it running
