The hacker, who goes by Vizor, tells TechCrunch that they exploited a bug in the popular game's anti-cheat software for months.

Had that happen once on a game. Guy was exploiting a bug for free currency, selling his service to add money to peoples accounts. Studio started banning people purchasing, Exploiter started giving away money to vast swaths of people.

Vizor said they could simply send a private message — known as a “whisper” in the game — that included one of these hardcoded strings, such as “Trigger Bot,” and get the player they were messaging banned from the game. 

That is so fucking stupid.
