Wow, it was my goto for TOTK guides, mods and sharing my yuzu setups. Reddit gets worse every day.
Piracy
Welcome to /c/piracy
No netflix or streaming services landlubbers allowed, this is pirates territory.
My only remaining subscriptions on Reddit were /r/SteamDeck and /r/NewYuzuPiracy - now it's pretty much just /r/SteamDeck
There's a Steam Deck Community on Lemmy!
Lemmy.ml/c/SteamDeck
I noticed that myself :(
Apparently around two hours ago
Had quite a few tabs open for TOTK too. In hindsight the community really should have prepared for this eventuality. The only user I remember from the group is /u/chucksfeedandseed. On a side note, what is lemmy.ml's stance on piracy related discussion? As long as there's no direct linking to illegal material they're fine with it right?
We have direct links to torrents on this instance.
We appreciate it, thank you!
I'm just annoyed I didn't save more of the mods and cheats before.
The cheap / no zonaite cost for autobuild one would be handy for example, also when learning to mod it myself.
Yeah it really sucks how much knowledge got lost when the sub was banned.
I remember a few posts from mod authors that were very useful for wrapping one's head around how to create a mod.
Also don't know if you saved it or not but there's HolographicWings/TOTK-Mods-collection that has most of the frequently used mods and cheats for TOTK and how to use them. Then there's pineappleEA/pineapple-src that has the latest Early Access versions of Yuzu on autobuild.
The mod of this very sub (whose name appears three times, because of multiple accounts on different instances) seems to be running their own instance where the megathread for /r/piracy is backed up.
So it seems the Divide by Zer0 instance is the place to be. Although I would assume the admins here are generally not against piracy because of their politics, but they may not want this server to be the centerpoint.
https://yourinstance.here/c/[email protected] (for the backup of the Piracy subreddit)
Hopefully we can get a good community going on the lemmyverse.
Someones just gotta spin it up. Im sure that Lemmy will be the new home of piracy. Id be shocked if Reddit didn't nuke all the pirate subs in prep for their IPO
What was newyuzupiracy for?
Nintendo switch piracy, particularly as it relates to the yuzu emulator.
Thanks.
Yuzu (as well as Ryujin) are incredible Switch emulators you can run on your PC. That sub was a bastion of getting your own "nintendo" system up and running, with a couple of fancy new Zelda releases.
Running Switch games through emulators (primarily Yuzu since it is much more popular). Recently it had become almost exclusively about emulating Tears of the Kingdom.
Just to add that a lot of times it actually runs some games better than on the actual switch, and has limited mod support. I'm running TOTK @ 1440p 60fps
Hahahahaha! 😂 This is amazing! That sub was probably the main one I enjoyed visiting lately that didn't really have an off-reddit alternative. (Signal and Bitwarden I went to to help others with questions, but they have their own community forums.)
And when someone asked why NewYuzuPiracy didn't go dark, they got down voted to hell with some of the top comments saying how it was dumb to go dark, nobody cares about 3rd party apps, etc. Well jokes on them now!
So glad we have Lemmy now to talk about this stuff!
Surely they'll just open another one again. Maybe we will get lucky and it will be here
Big N finally got them, been a good run for the community on coming with all the funky repacks for totk
There Is a piracy specific server by dbzero an r/piracy mod. Maybe make a new one there with a backup from the wayback machine
Nintendo got big mad about everybody playing Tears of the Kingodom 10 days before release.
there is a new community already:
[email protected]
dbzer0 is indeed one of the (ex-?)mods of /r/piracy
Yuzu? Isn't that the Swich Emulator?
Yes
Well double fuck Reddit then. Getting spooked by Nintendo Ninjas.
What is "New Yuzu?"
Yuzu is a Switch emulator.
It was called New because the original subreddit had already been banned before.
Are emulators illegal?
No, at least not yet.
Dam it. Is this all archived somewhere?
