Haven't tested this with the most recent Windows 11 installer but in the past what I do during the install is select that I'm setting the system up for a corporate / domain account. From there it allows to enter a normal Windows username/password like normal (you don't actually need a domain name but you can make one up if you want).

100% / 0% / 0%

I'd probably dump Lemmy entirely if I was forced to browse All. And/or I'd be blocking half the Lemmyverse.

Right behind you, Steam tells me I'm at 121 hours so far :D

Granted I'm still new, only bought it a few months back. Kind of surprising how much of a time sink this game is haha.

For what it's worth urgent care will definitely tell you to go to the hospital ER if they deem it more emergency related. And of course they'll still bill you for coming in there to ask them :P

In other words urgent care is not emergency care, if that makes sense.

Video editing / post production is the type of work that you need to have contacts in the industry to really get by. So you'd still apply to job postings but after a while the different production crews working on projects will have your info & can book you on future gigs when things go well.

I am not in that field but have a few friends/family doing it. Traditionally the majority of those type of jobs tend to be in the NYC area or southern California. I know people use Mandy to look for those type of jobs but I'm not too up to date on other places. That yt site you mentioned seems a bit hacky, maybe designed to attract beginner youtube influencer types.

but I got to wondering if anyone, ever actually uses it to access the start menu.

Yes definitely. Try pressing the Windows key and type the first few letters of the app name you're looking for, it's way way faster than mousing around clicking and scrolling through the Start Menu.

Also Windows key + E to open the file explorer gets used a lot. And windows key + L to lock the screen, I do that one a lot when walking away from the desktop at work.

I rarely block people. I find it better just to leave Lemmy communities with problematic/annoying users.. lemmy.world communities are the worst in that sense.

e.g. it might be me commenting in a non-political community about something random and then people jumping in and politicizing the thread and/or anything I wrote there. If I wanted to talk politics I'd join a politics sub, dealing with people that turn each and every post into something political gets old fast. And if the community moderators aren't interested in moderating that shit then what's the point sticking around in that community? So rather than block people I just leave those communities entirely & move on.

Steam link for those interested https://store.steampowered.com/app/2332240/Beyond_Shadowgate

I'm also on that Kickstarter, really happy this one is nearing release. Now wondering if I should be doing a play through of the original Shadowgate before jumping into this one.

All the MacVenture games were awesome (Deja Vu and Uninvited are up there too), don't worry you'll get a few upvotes from others that used to play these games :)

For me it was fine, maybe about 15 years ago. Small startup company I was at ran out of funding, we got something like 1-2 months severance. We all got along fine so it wasn't like everyone hated the job or the owners, sometimes startup companies just don't make it through those first few years.

Summer is probably the best time to be unemployed, spent a lot of time exploring my neighborhood during the weekday afternoons and was practicing making cold brew & other summer drinks LOL.

Was doing freelance work while being on unemployment / looking for a new steady job. Think it was about 4-5 months before I landed a new job (did get 1-2 job offers during that time but was maybe being a bit picky & turned them down).

... Also helps that I keep savings so short term unemployment won't wreck me. I've seen posts about people being out of work for years, that would be a far worse scenario.

I'd definitely notice, mine is less than a year old so I still remember thinking about which side I wanted the refrigerator to open towards.

Plus right now it opens facing the rest of the kitchen area/counter and that works for me. If that suddenly got reversed it'd be a noticeable and annoying change.

When you carry it by the handle it’s so long that it may scratch the ground

Always assumed that's a short person problem. Source: Am short, same thing happens to me.

Maybe there's a better way to deal with that but what I usually do is add a knot to each handle so the handles are shorter, that way the bags are higher from the ground.

That's when using re-usable grocery bags/totes with long handles.

Another thing I don’t get is people posting questions and then never engaging with the comments. Not answering follow-up questions or up-/downvoting answers.

On Reddit those were often bots attempting to establish an account with fake posts and karma before using it for spam. Not sure about Lemmy.
