Criminals are getting better at Wrench Attacks.

Some attacks are now worth millions of dollars.

This is why Privacy Coins are so important, and you should never brag about the size of your bags, and never pay for things from a public ledger wallet where people can trace back to see the size of your bags.

A mini side quest from AntiDarknet

We always thought "admins" who protect themselves by Cloudflare and other automated clearnet solutions are at the bottom ladder when it comes to skill. What level of script kiddie do you have to be to protect yourself against attacks with Cloudflare? The answer: the lowest level the definition of "LOL". Why not have your markets and forums in clearnet while you're at it?

To top it off those same admins decide to use random registrars and clearly don't have a full understanding of how the underground economy works. Ironic.

What we're getting at here is if these are your "top markets" and "top admins" who we've shown can be easily disrupted through their poorly coded payment systems or poor choice of infrastructure... how far do you think police have gone? You're ruled by amateurs who will not only extort your information (hello Incognito) but also take you down with them when time for raids is right. Don't be stupid and don't do anything illegal and for those peddling heavy drugs fuck you and keep dropping the soap.

Now to the fun part.

Time to deliver and reveal the sha256 secret.

Exactly within 72 hours the domain archetyp.cc has been removed.

We're sure the admin of Archetyp who's had security issues previously will show once again what a calm & technically capable individual he is by deflecting his incompetence & screaming unsubstantiated bullshit. We were reminded of his temper equivalent that of a rapist when we disclosed the Monero 0day attack against several marketplaces and subsequently in discussion his own.

A truly remarkable leader who definitely isn't a narcissist who got cucked out of a darknet forum once or mentally unstable individual with verbal diarrhea on every post or an unskilled script kiddie who can't protect his infrastructure. We should all aspire to be more like him.

We should further aspire to be as "neutral" as the admins of certain darknet discussion forums. Once you're at the top vote manipulation, deleting bad experienced about your market, trashing competitors with an obvious alt account army - all is allowed. An excellent business model one that breeds real trust and definitely doesn't decrease darknet market numbers year on year (thanks!). Pay the piper and swing your dick ;)

Back to the Hitler of darknet markets. Gear up for what Law Enforcement has next for you bud. We'll keep doing small side quests while our main operations run against yours and other darknet markets, fraud shops & pedo targets. The real world isn't a CoD lobby and no amount of German screeching will stop whats coming next this time.

You're very much welcome.

We weren't completely sure if its relevant to Monero but we decided to post anyways since it's a Monero-only marketplace. Remember don't do crime kids

Today Monero is listed as a front-page trending coin on Coinmarketcap

But it isn't rising that much ($148.81 from the low of $137), it's just that it didn't collapse with coins primarily traded on centralized exchanges. Monero's attitude of "use it" over hodl & leverage keeps it stable.

And special to this situation, as I've written about earlier, this entire collapse is triggered by Japanese yen carry trades. Monero's history of being banned from the Japanese exchanges, makes it so that very few people long XMR/JPY on leverage

When your in a electronic store that sells phones or computers. Go to a computer or phone on display and open up a web browser tab, and have it display something on Monero. Weather you go to a Monero website, or do a search engine query on Monero, or even use any AI apps like Copilot and ask it what Monero is.

The next customer playing with the device on display will discover Monero.

Stay on topic:

  • This thread is only for comments discussing the uncertainties, shortcomings, and concerns some may have about Monero.
  • NOT the positive aspects of it.
  • Discussion can relate to the technology itself or its economics.
  • Talk about community and price is not wanted, but some discussion about it maybe allowed if it relates well.
  • Be as respectful and nice as possible. This discussion has potential to be more emotionally charged as it may bring up issues that are extremely upsetting: many people are not only financially but emotionally invested in the ideas and tools around Monero.

How it works:

  • Post your concerns about Monero in reply to this thread.
  • If you can address these concerns, or add further details to them – reply to that comment. This will make it easily sort-able.
  • Upvote the comments that are the most valid criticisms of it that have few or no real honest solutions/answers to them.
  • The comment that mentions the biggest problems of Monero should have the most karma.

Is Bitcoin the New Petrodollar? w/ Derrick Broze (MT 320)

TODAY'S 🎙SHOW: Douglas Tuman interviews Derrick Broze, an investigative journalist, about his recent experience at the Bitcoin Nashville conference.

Derrick shares his concerns about the direction of the Bitcoin community, which he feels has strayed from its original vision of being an alternative currency free from government control. He expresses disappointment that privacy and projects like Monero are not given more attention, and that the focus has shifted towards mainstream investment opportunities.

Derrick also discusses his past interactions with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the potential co-option of Bitcoin by powerful entities, and the importance of opting out of centralized systems.

RandomX for soc/mobile small devices

I know this has been considered before. There are many old devices lying around somewhere in our cupboard drawers. An Android or iOS app using XMR could use the individual components of old small devices, e.g. camera, modem, proximity sensor, CPU, RAM, audio chip...

hyc maybe Thoughts?

I have mentioned before that the main problem I saw with Monero is the price fluctuations of items and that it could be fixed by simply choosing a number and sticking to it. Well, I decided since nobody else was doing it I would. Items at my store will only be up for a potential price change on April 1st, August 1st and December 1st of each year. This allows the possibility of actually beginning to make a budget in Monero that won't be invalid in the next 5 minutes. I want to be a general store selling baking pans, small appliances (coffee pots, toasters, blenders and the like), and some common household tools (hammers, tape measures, etc). I am open to suggestions from the community as to products they want and need to get closer to living daily life on Monero.

Edit: the August 1st price change will be 0 and will be reviewed again on December 1st.

So I got some stats from one of the bigger vendors at PorcFest this year:
Percentage of revenue:
Cash 72.2%
Goldbacks 11.77%
Monero 5.42%
Silver 4.44%
Zelle 2.69%
Bitcoin Lightning 1.82%
Bitcoin Cash 0.62%
Litecoin 0.56%
Bitcoin 0.47%

The vendor accepts any crypto. Over the years he also received Dash, XRP, Doge, TFuel and ETH.

The percentage of crypto sales in general was:
~7% in 2022
~9% in 2023
~9% in 2024

So the numbers, only looking at crypto, are:
XMR 61.0%
BTC LN 20.5%
BCH 7.0%
LTC 6.3%
BTC 5.3%

With localmonero shutting down, what would be the challenges of creating a federated version of localmonero? Traders and buyers can have accounts at different servers but still be able to trade each other and see each others' listings.

The pros i can see are: It would be harder to stop without a single point of failure, and brave server maintainers can host their services in different jurisdictions to prevent legal troubles. And it would be very difficult to prosecute server admins, as they aren't the creator but merely hosting a site.

I know the official client isn't done, but are people finding success with the unofficial clients? Any good experiences?

Holy! I might be a bit late to the party, but I just checked the recent numbers from ShopInBit.com for june:

#Monero 74,54 % 👀🤯🥳
#Bitcoin 23,64 % 😂
#LightningNetwork 1,73 % 🤣
FIAT 0,08 %

https://xcancel.com/shopinbit/status/1811651225005195471

Also they said if Monero surpasses the volume of Bitcoin in the next two month, they change their bio to "Europe's biggest Bitcoin and Monero Store" (which should obviously name Monero first but whatever xD).

Btw the numbers for coincards.com show a similar but not as devastating picture:

#XMR: 34.4%
#BTC (Onchain): 25.96%
#USDC: 20.20%
#ETH: 9.84%
#LTC: 2.49%
#Solana: 2.31%
#Dogecoin: 2.09%
#LightningNetwork: 2.08%
#USDT: 0.58%
#Dai: 0.04%
#Matic: 0.01%
#Dash: 0%

Chart shows silver priced in Monero. Note that it's hit a recent low, meaning it takes less Monero to buy the same amount of silver. Timing is looking good for rebalancing or if you suspect grid down scenarios playing out as the election approaches.

My first comment here I couldn't get my post to submit on reddit (don't like Tor IP?)

I was browsing X on my phone searching for monero tags to catch up on news and it popped up on my feed no likes no shares. Real or fake? Wth is this antidarknet stuff? Something monero developers should be informed about or nah? anyone tried it?

I couldn't submit to archive.org the link here's what it said
