To start, I'm glad that your ship inventory follows you when you switch home ships. It would be a pain to have to transfer everything manually and end up with multiple ships housing forgotten inventory forcing you to search ship after ship in your fleet to find specific items. However, my primary ship is built out to have an armory with cool things I've found displayed in weapon cases, on racks, etc. When you switch your home-ship, everything is dumped in to main inventory on the new ship, and even if you switch back to your original ship, the items are again dumped in to the main inventory. Not only does this hamstring the coolness of being able to display gear on a ship, but it can screw you over if the display items put your total inventory overweight in main storage. Over the course of certain questlines, you need to switch ships for the story, or maybe you come across a ship you decide to "liberate", or maybe it's a ship is a quest reward, regardless, your inventories get jumbled up. It seems to me, that your items could be tagged by the game to indicate which storage they were in (main, captain's, other, display) so that as they move from ship to ship they can be better located. Additionally, I think the game could save the state of your inventory items and when they go back to a ship you've already set up, they would default to where they were before. I guess we'll have to see what the modders can do.

TLDR: Why would I take the time to display my items if it's all going to get thrown in to main storage anytime I switch ships..?

I've also seen Crag Runners which are basically cliff racers.

What have you seen in this game that references other Bethesda games?>

Hoping to make this a discussion/brainstorming thread.

I hit level 20 and noticed that I had accumulated a healthy supply of random crafting items, so I decided to go into manufacturing. I set up my initial base on Sirius 3-B, and started expanding to other moons throughout the system, but I'm not sure what I should be manufacturing.

I've invested pretty heavily into my weapon and spacesuit design skills, but I've only got two points into outpost construction; I can set up simple and commercial fabricator/extractors, but I'm not sure what I'll need down the line. Any advice or suggestions from veteran Outpost builders?

I've been getting diverted on sidequests, capturing ships, and exploration too much.

But I really don't want to do the Constellation questline yet, I've seen some spoilers and I'm not ready for that . I'm thinking of concentrating on the UC Vanguard or Freestar Collective questlines. Can I complete those without interfering with the Constellation questline?

So: Neon and Paradiso excepted, has anyone seen any oceans or rivers in the game as yet?

Someone on Reddit recently posted a pic with their character standing at the side of a river, and the general suggestion was that anyone who hadn't seen a river hadn't looked carefully enough.

Accordingly, I went looking. I found a temperate planet with oceans visible from orbit ("YOU CAN'T LAND HERE"), set down on what looked like it should have been beach, and then headed north towards where the ocean should have been.

I eventually ended up standing on a mountain in what ought to have been the sea, looking across a dry valley towards another mountain, not a drop of liquid in sight!

So either I'm reading the maps wrong (entirely possible btw) or the planet generation is on the fritz in my game (can't rule it out) or the Reddit post was spoofed.

So: has anyone found any oceans or rivers? I'll post screenshots and maps when I get back to my gaming box tonight.

So my kid was playing and while attempting to hijack a ship it took off into space. Once he killed the crew he was unable to fly the ship due to having too low of a level. Being overburdened he dumped all of his gear and then fast travelled back to his destination. About an hour later he returned to that planet and found the ship floating in space and when he boarded everything was floating like the power was off. Pretty cool for sure.

Given that the quest turns out to be a joke that they do on newbies, to me it kinda also feels like they are pulling a joke on the player. Like, it first looks like there is some magic item that the player has to retrieve, like one would do in Skyrim. But then it turns out like haha it's just a joke, did you really think there were magic items in space? Is there a concrete Skyrim quest this could be a reference to?

I also feel the same about the scientist in New Atlantis, the one with the tree. Reminds me of the nettlebane quest.

Do you have any other quests you think could be Skyrim references?

If'd put points into piloting earlier I might have been to level 2 in ship combat, but i've just started looking into class B and higher ship parts so I need the licenses.

I get totally wrecked most of the time in ship combat (using the Razorleaf with what upgrades I could manage with class A). I guess I could use my

my guns can take an average ship down in one pass, but shields are usually gone by then, especially if there's multiple enemies. Heh and if I do get a decent random encounter of course half the ships
spoilerDo the "Oh crap it's the Mantis" thing and run away. though i can tag one.

Are there systems that are good for grinding out some ship kills? On the ground I've taken to putting difficulty to hard.

**Oh another question - is the lockon mechanic worth it? Doesn't seemt to make much difference when i try

Hit up the Sol system and check the planets...

They skip over Ceres in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter, but there on the outer edge...

Pluto is a planet again!

If you have a hard time remembering where the asteroid belt is, there is also a mnemnonic for that...

Don't know if it's super useful but was told companions can use weapons you give them if they have at least one ammo piece in their inventory. So I used this to give them one of each out of like a thousand ammo I have.

Every story gets interpreted individually, so what parts of the games storytelling are resonating with you?

Something I found interesting about my play through a quest lead me to commit some corporate espionage. During one of the last missions everything went tits up but I made a distinct choice to remain non lethal. While I truly hated working for a corp (really hoping there was a path to destroy from within) I loved how the game at least at a minimum allowed me to interject my own morals into my character.

Situationally though, I did go and slaughter a few mines worth of people but I can head cannon that into my ethics no prob.

Just as an open discussion, I’m curious if other people are having those moments of thought or personal reflection.

photo mode is a blessing. Needs more character options like fo76 with facial expressions and some more poses but otherwise it’s A1. Enjoy.

There seems to be a problem with the Shield Systems perk at either rank 2 or 3 that causes you to LOSE shield strength rather than gain it. It can occur inconsistently since I only have the issue on one of my ships and only now that I’m in new game+, but it’s causing my Razorleaf to actually have max shields of around 270 when it should be giving me 680.

Unfortunately the only solutions right now are to either use a different ship or remove the perk with console commands. I haven’t seen a lot of discussion about it either so who knows if Bethesda is even aware of it yet to begin working on a patch.
