What if it takes that long for Russia to give up?
You likely mean Afghanistan, Iraq was a 8 year mess.
The US's coalition was supporting the Iraqi government against insurgents until 2021
We could expect the same in Ukraine, a constant low level war that drags on and on for years after it's "over"
