This is a 2.2L engine that does NOT feature the head gasket failure mode.

I will probably tidy up the bay when I swap the alt/ps belt in the near future.

The Subaru ej22 is a popular engine for people to swap into vintage VWs as the the flat-four piston arrangement is similar to the air-cooled “pancake” engines that came in the VWs. If I can find a cheap enough donor car, I will be putting an ej22 in my VW bus

They are hard to find because the people with problematic 2.5L engines swap the 2.2L in. Cheaper to swap then have the gaskets done at a shop.

Hello twinsie!!

This is the 2.5L ej251 that just had the mls gaskets put on because yes, that bitch was leaking again lol

2001 Forester. Did a lot while the engine was out to do head gaskets. My favorite I think was acousti sealing the mega fuck out of my flange gasket. So quiet now.

I think I'm being too cowardly with the belts because I've had to tighten them both at least once. Don't have a perfect 12mm to reach the vbelt pulley so I'll have to take the damn fan off again to get it
