I guess that doesn't work. Is there a way to link to a post without opening a chrome tab? I'm on wefwef and the [email protected] hyperlink works perfectly. How to directly link to a post

Gmail itself, in that situation, is just a frontend to the mail server. You can use the same domain, on any mail server, with any frontend, and it would work just as well. It's just that Google Workspace apps are familiar to most users. But even then, the industry leader is Microsoft with their Office Suite which is yet another option

Sure, but the person I was replying to seemed to imply that there is some lack of interoperability of apps in the Fediverse when the whole point of the Fediverse is interoperability not just between the different apps, but even different servers sharing the same protocol

They seem to have misunderstood that just because .ml decided to defederate from Kbin, they will never be able to interact with Kbin posts and comments on Lemmy when in reality you can just sign up on another instance and it works just fine. Or you host your own, and you control what you see

Sign up on another instance like lemm.ee, simple as that

Threads themselves have not federated yet, but the threat is that they could at some point in the future. So, you will not see posts from Threads on any instance right now

[email protected]

Edit: The bot reply is what I was looking for. On wefwef, it will only go to the post, comment or community if you link it like this

I just love that the dev is able to pump out updates pretty much daily. Getting anything reviewed on both the App Store and Play Store takes ages

I expected the Play Store release to take some time, but Android really has no need to go through with that. Just a simple apk file is all you need. You don't even need to go through the whole TestFlight process on iOS so I kinda wish they had some beta releases by now.

I'm working with wefwef till Boost comes out. I just fell in love with Boost for Reddit and it's similar enough, I'll switch over immediately. There's also Memmy which I would like to try, and it's supposed to be for Android as well, but I can't find any builds and haven't been able to figure out building it for myself

A pretty good blog about the situation I think you should read - https://ploum.net/2023-06-23-how-to-kill-decentralised-networks.html
