I get signs telling you there's a bump ahead, or deer might run out in front of you, but I've never understood why there are signs telling people not to build unlawful driveways. Are that many people doing it on a daily basis in that area that they need a fully visible sign? Surely it's just an ordinance, why does it need a road sign?

I've been wondering this for years and hope someone has an answer that makes sense.

I'm not meaning similar posts or the same post but in different communities. I've been seeing duplicate posts in the same community by the same people with the same upvotes/downvotes. A literal duplicate.

Sometimes it's like I'm scrolling the same feed on repeat with a seamless transition.

this is strange, but I have the feeling I have to apply more sunscreen to my arms and shoulders. OTOH I feel my legs and torso don't need as much stuff, neither does my face.

When I sunbath I only wear my swim trunks and I lay on the ground, which means my legs and torso receive the same amount of radiation as my arms and shoulders.

I could understand that my arms and shoulders needed more sunscreen if I walked under the sun, but that's rarely the case: I lay on the ground.

Does this happen to you?

my arms are thinner than my legs: do I need more sunscreen in the areas where blood vessels are thinner / muscles are leaner?

Let me preface this by saying I am a man, and smoked a little too much, so I'm sitting here thinking... what is or was the original purpose of a bra? Weight support? Vanity? Covering the nips so people's eyes met your eyes and you can have a normal conversation? Like what's it all about?

I'm going on my first overseas trip with my girlfriend since we started dating. I worked hard all last year to earn and save money for this trip. It will be our first international trip ever, and I want to make it perfect, memorable, and the best trip of our lives.

I've read countless articles online to ensure everything is perfect. It felt overwhelming to the point that my head started to hurt. IMO, The US has crumbling infrastructure, corrupt government, dangerous cities, and a lot of homelessness, among so many other problems. Hell, millions of people in the US don’t even have power right now.

Here's my sentence:

Is this right? Should I have the period at the end of the parentheses? I tried looking through my textbook and a few online articles but I couldn't find an example with a parenthetical citation and a quote that includes a period. Thanks for the help!

I'm still looking for a drama free workplace and I don't understand why people seem to enjoy creating chaos out of nowhere

Working in several industries, I've met:

• white Christian nationalist: too many Arabs and Mexicans in our country, somebody should send them all back to where they belong, and I'm very Christian. This was 5 minutes after meeting me for the first time. Why even tell this to a coworker?

• Married woman complaining to me about how her husband isn't so affectionate nowadays: 2 minutes after meeting me for the first time. Who does that? Shouldn't you tell this to somebody you trust, like a friend and not a stranger you met 2 minutes ago?

• An anti vaxxer trying to convert me to his cause, or however you want to call it.

• And just today: 'it's good that Trump was shot' Why would a sane person blurt that out in the middle of our pause for everyone to hear you? Why do you need to antagonize your coworkers? This was a manager btw.

I have waaaaay more examples, but I'll keep it simple.

I just want to work and go home. Completely drama free. I don't want to care what coworkers think, but apparently I'm very thin skinned and I'm easy to be triggered. Each of the examples I wrote triggered me: I wanted to yell 'fck off, you piece of sht, I don't give a f*ck what you think, leave me alone', or something like that. But I need the job.

My conundrum: If this happens at every workplace, wouldn't it make more sense to stay with the devil you know?

Unless, of course, you've job hopped till you found a drama free workplace... please tell me how you did it.

I want to be the old guy who doesn't give a f*ck about stuff like this, yet it still triggers me.

My personal experience mirrors that as well. Everyone in my homebrew group is that. Everyone in surrounding groups (as seen in pictures of state-wide gatherings) is that. 95% of the people I see in homebrew shops are that.

Why?

Whenever they have a spike in demand, the de-regulated prices go up by several hundred percent. Example

I know it's bacteria, but where is that bacteria coming from? Why doesn't brushing, flossing, mouth washing, or getting a deep clean at the dentist get rid of it entirely?

Is it normal to be disgruntled after a layoff?

I got laid off my IT role for a biggish MSP firm, they just called some people to say they had difficult measures to take, I was one of those people..

So a month and so later, I'm still searching and I just feel bitter and jaded, I'm not getting calls back.

Is it perfectly normal for me to feel this way about companies? I'm still confident I can try to get back into it from this setback but I just feel these firms no matter what industry they are, are utterly void of any camaderie.

Am I going insane?

The coworkers I like the most are the ones that come to work, don't like drama, do their job and go home. That's what I try to do.

However, there are always some established cliques who know how to play the unit / supervisor and get away doing much less, even feeling entitled to order you around, even though they are not your supervisor.

To people who experience this. How do you tolerate it? Even after changing jobs, this can happen at your new workplace, maybe it happens in every workplace?
