Would be a great time for a certain well known leftist who recently got kicked out of Labour to start his own party…

Too bad the UK has no one like that I guess.

He's running as an independent in the district which he had represented for decades, and he's organising a very impressive grassroots campaign but in the one poll which I know about, he's in second place. People have told me that UK polling is extremely bad, I hope they're right.

Apparently a lot of people aren't aware Corbyn's now independent, and are voting labour under the assumption they'll be getting the same MP again.

I've read that as well. Heartbreaking. Although I also don't really understand how someone could've missed that Corbyn was kicked out of Labour.

Critical support to Climate Change for accelerating the demise of TERF island

Transphobia is so bizarre to me even more than homophobia or Islamophobia

real! you saw someone else doing their gender wrong? literally who the fuck cares??? why on earth do you feel like the existence of trans people affects you in any way?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 months ago

Exactly and unfortunately it's impossible to conceal being trans My heart aches for every trans person who faces abuse.

Okay but it would be pretty funny if they went to literally 0 seats.

Those poll results are absolutely insane, has any other party in history tanked so hard so fast?

its fptp with contested third party & its not granular update i think, they'll still remain in some seats. (but its good for the memes)

The Liberal Party of the UK went from 43,2% in 1910 (272 seats) to 13,0% in the next election of 1918 (36 seats).

The Panhellenic Socialist Movement (Socdems) in Greece had almost the same fall - 43,9% in 2009 to 13,8% in 2012. So much that the decline of socdem parties became known as PASOKification.

The Polish Democratic Left Alliance, the successor of the PZPR, got into power with 41,0% of the vote (compared to the second placed PO with 12,7%) in 2001, but a mixture of neoliberal reforms and scandals made them fall to 11,31% in 2005, which also led to the rise of the far-right.

And to think that Labour are going use their Ba'ath Party majority to do their own take on Tory politics.
