Summary

Donald Trump plans to ban transgender individuals from military service shortly after his inauguration, reversing President Biden’s 2021 policy and expelling about 15,000 serving trans troops.

Critics, including advocacy groups and military experts, warn this move will exacerbate recruitment and retention challenges, harm unit cohesion, and create skill gaps amid existing shortfalls.

The order aligns with Trump’s broader anti-trans agenda, which includes banning gender-affirming care and restricting trans rights nationwide.

Legal challenges are anticipated as the military faces administrative and operational disruptions.

Don't forget that he is basically a Nazi

He needs to make them seem criminal and inhuman so he can use them as a distraction and scapegoat later, so he can get his fan base to attack them

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Probably because the plan is to use the military to deport Trans people after he sates his thirst for deporting POC.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago

As a PoC trans immigrant

Meme

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

does he know he can't deport anyone who wasn't ported? lol

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 hours ago

He wants to end birthright citizenship by pushing an ultraconservative interpretation of the 14th amendment through that basically says it only applied to people who were already born when it was ratified, so citizens who were born here can just be rendered stateless and thrown into camps.

These people care way too much about others people’s genitalia.

[–] [email protected] 84 points 2 days ago (5 children)

Seriously, pretty much all people I‘ve met who are offended by LGBTQ people have either suppressed desires or are really insecure about their own sexuality in some way.

It’s like that Hungarian minister who constantly attacked gay people until he was found by police at an illegal gay orgy in Brussels (illegal since it was during Covid lockdowns).

[–] [email protected] 52 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Let's not overshadow the fact that people DO hate us just because they need someone to hate, or because their religion says to, or because their politics says to. Trying to pretty it up or make it "less bad" because they're all secretly gay doesn't help.

[–] [email protected] 24 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

I detest the "all homophobes are secretly gay" thing so much.

What it's saying, in effect, is that queer people are responsible for our own oppression. Because if every homophobe is secretly queer, then no straight person can ever be homophobic. If they were, they wouldn't be straight, by definition.

The only way that argument works is if we're actually arguing that there is no such as being straight, and that everyone is at least 1% bisexual. There's some basis for that, especially in studies of ancient cultures and uncontacted tribes. But until we start taking that seriously as an idea (and that is a very, very contentious idea to be taking seriously), this "Only queer people can be homophobic" nonsense has got to stop.

That doesn't make it less bad, it makes it more bad.

Yea, it's a pretty weird obsession

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Hopefully the discharge is honorable and their service helps them get a good civilian job where they are happy and accepted

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

We'll be lucky if they get a dishonorable discharge, because the way the GOP stands now... a firing squad isn't out of the question.

I am disgusted by the world.

Fuck you Mace, Fuck you Elon, and FUCK YOU everyone who voted for Trump and signing my death warrant.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 19 hours ago) (1 children)

Elon ESPECIALLY hates trans people because his own trans kid disowned him

[–] [email protected] 1 points 20 hours ago

I feel like it's not fair to have a vendetta against all Transpeople for that.

I mean Elon said "The Woke Mind Virus took [her] from me! {She's] my [daughter] damn it!"

and I'm like "Are you sure it was the Woke Mob? Are you sure it wasn't... you neglected and abused her, so she hates you?"

[–] [email protected] 34 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I just don't get it. Trans people can pull a trigger as well as anyone else. This is just hatred.

[–] [email protected] 29 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

This is just hatred

Yes, this is indeed America.

Every 2 years since Reagan, we get a vote for either Greed(D), or Greed+Hatred(R).

Greed+Hatred won this cycle. Not getting hatred as a result would be the confusing thing. A welcome confusing thing, but confusing nonetheless.

Goodbye naval intelligence

[–] [email protected] 69 points 2 days ago (6 children)

I got out in 2017 partially because I'm trans and Trump was coming into the oval office. He had made it clear that trans people would not be welcome in his military, and I wasn't going to risk being discharged because of President Bone Spurs.

The military held him off last time, but I'm not as hopeful this time. And I just wanted to throw out there: I personally believe the GOP is going to use federal funding to essentially strip LGBTQ+ people of their rights and healthcare access. It's going to be the Minimum Federal Drinking Age Act of 1984 again, where the fed is gonna say, "Sure, you can offer gender affirming care in your state... If you do, you won't have access to XYZ federal funding anymore."

And the states will let it happen.

For anyone with any doubt about OP's comment, here's the current landscape for specifically anti-trans bills:

https://translegislation.com/

668 bills considered just this year. 1200 in the past two years. 84 national bills proposed this year. Tell me any minority in the history of the earth that has had this much legislation levied against them.

Next year the Republicans will be able to pass these bills carte blanche. It's looking bleak out there y'all

They want to deport the Mexicans, ban the Muslims, kick out the trans and (ultimately) the gays... they want anyone who isn't a complaint WASP to be banished from society. They think they can do it all themselves. But they're going to find out real quick that they can't.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Don't forget turning women into breeding machines that legally belong to their husbands.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago

Yeah, in the future when the economy is hurting from a lack of population growth, it will be because the white women aren’t popping out enough babies and definitely not because the Republican hate machine threw out or killed millions of people who were already contributing to society.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 day ago

and when they find out they can’t, they’ll cry foul and claim they were sabotaged

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 day ago

I still remember the labor shortage from all the deportations when they found out they need immigrants to do the work no one wants to do. They never seem to learn

[–] [email protected] 15 points 2 days ago

They want to deport the Mexicans, ban the Muslims, kick out the trans and (ultimately) the gays…

It's gonna be great watching centrists pretend that they didn't just spend the election cycle moving to the right on immigration, supporting an ongoing genocide in Gaza, and parroting right wing hate against trans people in their own campaign ads.

They think they can do it all themselves.

If Democrats' actions of the past months are anything to go on, Republicans won't have to do it all themselves. They'll have help from Democrats.

The ways things are trending he may, quite inadvertently, save their lives in doing so. This is a sad epoch we are living in.

[–] [email protected] 87 points 2 days ago (1 children)

This motherfucker wouldn't know what it was to serve your country.

[–] [email protected] 64 points 2 days ago (1 children)

He knows exactly how to serve his country. On a platter.

[–] IamSparticles 11 points 2 days ago

"To Serve Man"

[–] [email protected] 72 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Private Bone Spurs is the Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. military for a second time now.

And I guarantee you if you asked a lot of the older MAGA what they thought of Bill Clinton, "draft dodger" would come up eventually.

[–] [email protected] 50 points 2 days ago

They would tell you that Clinton was a coward, but God Emperor Trump is just a smart man.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It's so strange how this same action could be attributed to him being an ally or even just a cuck.

"The trans community is a beacon of Hope that must be protected at all costs. Under no circumstances will I allow any trans person to fight or die for our country, as they are the ones our country should be protecting most."

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 day ago

That's exactly it! I knew I was pulling the idea from somewhere but couldn't remember where. Of course it was the Onion.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 day ago

Hate sells and America is buying

[–] [email protected] 24 points 2 days ago

Hey! Let's send over 10k of the people we trained how to use weapons professionally home in a clearly discriminatory manner instead of letting them keep their jobs. That will do wonders for political stability.

[–] [email protected] 25 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Looking forward to the "support our troops" crowd disavowing Trump for this

[–] [email protected] 17 points 2 days ago

That would require that crowd to have a basic understanding of logic and reality, which they don't. The GOP can literally do no wrong in their eyes because they will have some conspiracy to blame the consequences on instead.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 2 days ago

I am curious when he is going to start placing them in concentration camps along with all the other people that have spoken out against the glorious leader.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 2 days ago

This is less to do with the perceived quality of trans troops and more to do with making sure that the the current target of the boot doesn't know how to fight back.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Regret joining the marines? Just wear a dress!

It's gonna be just like the "good" old days, where bigotry is both accepted and the norm.
I'm just waiting for them to change hate crime to act of morality, claiming it's just upholding good Christian values.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised. 🤮
