As we have seen a rise of toxic behavior we have decided that it would be time for some rules. We would love other ideas too and feel free to discuss it here.

Also we are thinking about, to put in an Automoderation tool that could help us a lot. Because its currently not easy for us to scan every new comments and reports are rare currently. We want your opinons on that too, because its important to us that this community is based on the people here.

The shortlist that we have currently as idea for the Rules:

  • Be Kind to each other
  • No Hate speech
  • Dont harass people
  • No Racism, sexism and any other discrimination
  • Dont attack other people just because they have differnt opinions (Stay on Topic)
  • Do not double post

In the absence of a flair system on lemmy yet, let's try to make it easier to scan through posts by type in here by using tags:

  • [meta] for discussions/suggestions about this community itself
  • [article] for news articles
  • [blog] for any blog-style content
  • [video] for video resources
  • [academic] for academic studies and sources
  • [discussion] for text post questions, rants, and/or discussions
  • [meme] for memes
  • [image] for any non-meme images
  • [misc] for anything that doesn't fall cleanly into any of the other categories

I have copied that idea from another community. I forgot which one so sorry!

Feel free to discuss that here, I would like that change because it makes it a lot easier

Ismail Mohammad pushes a buggy down the centre of a narrow road in east Bristol. His two sons stay close as vehicles could come from either direction at any moment. “There are cars [parked] on the pavement. We have to go on the road,” says Mohammad as he hurries to the boys’ primary school in Easton. “It’s dangerous because cars sometimes come fast through here.”

What in tarnation ? What a sorry state of affairs. Good luck to the council !

Bryher has little sympathy for drivers who claim they must park on pavements on narrow roads. “You need to park somewhere else instead … there are enough [spaces] for everyone to park in the city,” he says. “It’s just that you might have to park further away and you might have to consider whether you need a car.

“They are not safe. They are anything but for safety,” said a woman who added vehicles in the two-block section sometimes drive in the middle of Springbrook to avoid the bollards.

Oh, so drivers behind of the wheel of an automobile are the danger. Why remove the bike lanes rather than the car lanes?

I heard that Etobicoke's NIMBYs are insane, but this is a new level of stupidity from Richmond Hill.

You're walking home late at night from the bar because you've had 11 shots of tequila but you still made the conscious decision not to drive for the safety of others.

You're crossing a stroad.

Someone "in a hurry" decide to run the red light and hits you at 70 km/h (because of course they were speeding, why wouldn't they?), doesn't see you because you're hunched over while you're walking and it's really dark and the person is driving a giant SUV with shit visibility.

Cars are one of the largest source of fatal pedestrian accidents in a major city. How much more likely are you to get into an accident if you're drunk and is less able to pay attention to cars breaking the rules and putting you in danger? Walking safely in most cities is a task you need to be sober for because you have to walk super defensively.

TranscriptionA picture of a hand holding remote car keys pointed at a white pickup truck. Below that is the text:

In the US, 75% of truck owners tow only once a year or less. Nearly 70% of them go off-road once a year or less. Additionally, 35% of truck owners haul something in their truck beds once a year or less

UK Cyclist recruitment poster for the territorial army (1912)

Source: Imperial War Museums

Image Description:

a battle scene set in a British village street, featuring a dismounted Territorial Army cyclist, in uniform and chin-strapped forage cap, loading his rifle. Behind him stand two more members of the battalion, one firing his rifle, the other placed his bicycle against a wall. In the background, the remainder of the battalion come to join them.

so get it while you can. thought it'd be relevant, downvote/remove this if you want lol

Example: If you bought the HHR route for Train Sim World 2, clicking on the "install game" button on Steam for the TSW5 free starter pack (no, you don't have to install it) will automatically give you the TSW5 version of the HHR route with no further steps; if you're on PlayStation, you do need to do the same process for TSW4 first.

The law, Global News has learned, is currently set to be titled the Reducing Gridlock and Saving You Time Act and could be presented when the legislature returns at the end of October. Primarily aimed at drivers, it will include new provincial requirements on bike lanes.

...

The specifics of the legislation have not been made public but sources told Global News said the government was considering restrictions on towns and cities removing existing lanes of traffic to create bike lanes.

Absolute clowns.
