I've been playing around with themes a bit, and also with the new user interfaces we just got on Lemmy.today, but I still think the default web theme is the best.

I'm on mobile apps most of the time but when I use the web version, I prefer the default.

Am I alone with this opinion? There seemed to be so much hype for the optional user interfaces. They look kind of cool at first but they are a bit too messy for me.

Most of them are definitely in an early state and aren't as feature-rich as the default UI because they're still all relatively new. That said, https://alexandrite.app is definitely my favorite of the alternate UIs. It's very sleek and being able to open posts and read comments without having to leave the page you're scrolling is a big bonus for me.

I like this one, it's not bad :)

Alexandrite.app is the front end I use daily on my laptop. Very sleek and it maximizes screen real estate. The dev is very responsive too and rolls out new features and bug fixes often.

old.lemmy.world for maximal compactness and full-width layout.

I had to hack together some tampermonkey js to pin the page header and always open in new tab, but now it's just how I want it.

old is the fastest one for sure :)

Alexandrite for posting, https://phtn.app/ for mindless browsing.

Can't wait for Alexandrite to get the light theme though

Ah it's coming? That's cool, I may like it in different colors.

I remember the dev talking about it as it was a popular feature request

Yeah sounds really good. I'm a huge terminal nerd so I use themes like Tokyo Night or Catppuccin for editors, would be nice with something like that too.

m.lemmy.world for that sweet Voyager UI on the desktop
