A tree fell on him, leaving him paralyzed. He sued & got a payout amount granted by the lawsuit settlement, totaling $8.9 million. He then championed legislation that limits lawsuits awards so a payout can’t exceed like $250,000, or so. I may be wrong on that figure but pretty much he said fuck you I got mine. To be fair, governors shouldn't travel to disaster zones as the city has to spend resources on them like for protection and it takes away from disaster relief efforts.
Yeah but tax payers funding his trip to Asia during a crisis isnt good either. He should have stayed in Austin and helped organize the disaster response.
Most of us would gladly pitch in a few bucks for him to take a trip forever.
