Very much understand. And there are so many interesting folks and things to talk about here! Glad you're getting involved.

And very much agree on Reddit toxicity. Terrible. Though in time Lemmy may become the same.

You mention that you are currently disabled?

I find that a fascinating way to describe it, because I've only known ever known of non-disabled and disabled individuals (my apologies if there are more correct terms).

My understanding has always been disabilities are permanent, but always love learning how I have been wrong, so please share if you are comfortable.

Since you are "currently" so, I must assume it is temporary. If you don't mind me asking, what is your recovery time till no longer being that way?

Also, hope you have a positive support structure to help with any needs your disability may make more difficult.

Looking forward to your future contributions.

Hey, @disguy_ovahea

Noticed your very active account is only 5 days old, and wanted to take the opportunity to welcome you to Lemmy!

Thanks for joining!

I find at least one commenter with a new account on almost every post with more than 5 comments.

They tend to be negative.

Think I'm going to start welcoming them to Lemmy, note their activity to date, and ask them nicely what might have brought them to join. (If they are real, glad to have them, but I have found most Lemmy members came here from Reddit, not to make accounts to post in News or Politics or such places trolls would like.)

Until Lemmy updates to identify new accounts ala Voyager, I think that would be helpful to inform other users they may be talking to a troll.

There are approximately 433k accounts but only 48k Monthly Active Users.

It's hard to believe that many of posts and comments are often the newest accounts, and though they will change tactics to using older accounts, at least it's more work for them.

I recommend others do the same.

Sure, bud.

Somehow you think I think "her project was the tractor beam", whatever that means.

She was disabling ship engines via phaser. Antares was tractor beaming to delay, causing warp field deterioration; endangering Burnham, the warp field, and the potential integrity of all three ships. Warp field deteriorates so low due to tractor beam that Antares captain quits his game of chicken.

Cause of warp field deterioration is now over, she could now continue to disable the engine via phaser.

Or she could stay attached to the ship and disable nothing. Starfleet is currently tracking and communicating with her, and thus the vehicle she is attached to, preventing escape, which made the "how will we track" dialogue silly. Just stay on!

Instead, the warp field is fine after the tractor beam is removed, thieves come out of warp to drop distraction warp flares to shake their tail, and reenter warp.

It was sloppy and nonsensical.

Next you'll tell me there's a Federation directive not allowing offers of buying stolen artifacts from thieves, so they must be fought and chased around for a season.

Loved earlier seasons, too bad this season is off to such a bad and predictable start.

It's obvious from the selective distortion of the Romulan scientist's Schrodinger's mayday message, that the threat is NOT having this technology in everyone's hands. They will spend the season trying to stop anyone from getting it, when everyone in fact needs it.

Based on Stamets' desire for a legacy, the Progenitors likely created the mycelium network, and that is what the key will unlock. Not some weapon or danger.

Good day. Enjoy the bad writing.

Warp failure being imminent was due to the tractor beam, which was removed prior to her exiting the vehicle.

So... guess you can't?

Hard to watch, honestly. Bad writing.

Have made a lot of excuses for this show, and generally have enjoyed it.

But, can anyone explain to me why Burnham needed to get off of the thieves' ship, whose engine she was (according to herself) moments away from disabling with her phaser, other than the need to set up a season of find-a-map-hint-per-episode trope by letting them get away?

Mind boggling dumb starting plot point that ruins the whole season setup.

sigh

Not religious, but "Steady plodding bring prosperity".

All my life I have watched as many of those around me struggle to stay consistent in their lives, and have worse outcomes as a result.

Inconsistent with their savings habits.

Inconsistent in their employment efforts.

Inconsistent with their love lives.

Inconsistent with taking care of themselves.

Consistency provides a basis for better long term results. Very little success is possible in almost any endeavor without it.

Though I've found it personally frustrating to remain consistent in my own life, the benefits of doing so I have found to be exponential, although late and taken for granted by others who weren't consistent.

Another is: "What are you willing to give up to get what you want?"

All too many things are zero-sum, and though consumer capitalist systems often pretend "you can have it all", you can't.

Honest reflection about what is most important to yourself, and what personal sacrifices are required to obtain your goal, makes the goal easier to obtain.

Many sacrifices that are needed are clear from the offset, but by being honest and willing before the endeavour, those future sacrifices are less traumatic. Other sacrifices pop up along the way, and it's important to re-evaluate at intervals whether your end goal is still worth it.

For love: "Prequalify your spouse."

People lead with their hearts often where their heads can't follow.

Sure they may be attractive, or have an amazing personality, or be rich, but do you KNOW them?

Is their fading beauty or quick wit or checking balance able to really make up for their poor treatment of others, latent racism or sexism, politics, religious adherence, stance on having children, intention in the future to care for ailing family, or poor spending habits? What about if they believe it's appropriate to hit your future kids, or demand the kids are their religion, or can't be gay? What if they refuse to travel or relocate? What if they don't clean up after themselves or never take responsibility for their failings?

It is imperative to long term relationship success that you spend enough time for both partners to actually understand each other, because there is more to long term compatibility related to shared values than there is to sexual attraction.

Most often this advice results in people realizing they haven't given enough thought themselves to what and why they believe is the best way to live their own lives, and where those values came from.

I've got loads more, but those are a great start.

"Run" is the cause of the confusion.

It can stream (locally, or remotely via VPN) from either console (Xbox or PS).

It can stream cloud-based games from either ecosystem, via Game Pass or PS Plus.

It can run Xbox PC games in Windows.

HOW WAS THIS NOT ALREADY THE CASE?

Judge Jones was already assigned as a court-mandated financial monitor for the trial and the next three years.

This financial monitor up until today WAS NOT included in communication or documentation, of the company she financially monitors due to their previous history of financial misrepresentations when obtaining financing, as it attempts to obtain financing?!

America is stupid. Honestly.
