If you write a non-satirical story and put your villain in a picture like this, people would call it exaggerated and unserious.

I take it you haven't seen the most recent season of Fargo

There's at least 80,000$ worth of guns in this picture. That's 20,000$ more than the yearly wage of an average American.

40k For the M60

10k For the UZI

10k For the Thompson

10k For the G3

10k For the FAL

That's not counting any licensing fees, shipping, the two guns on the left that I can't tell if they're "cheap" AR15s or expensive military issue rifles, and would be if they bought them for the cheapest bidding price.

This is Thomas Massie's family. He is currently a Congressman of Kentucky's 4th congressional district. Where the median household income is $75, 907. Each Congressional person earns $174,000 /y unless posted otherwise.

He comes from a business background in electrical engineering and holds/held 24 patents. Back in 1996, SensAble Technoolgies, Inc., raised $32 million of venture capital. The business was sold back in 2003.

So while his photo of his family holding guns for their Christmas photo is weird as fuck, this dude is rolling in the money.

Sounds like a good house to rob when Noone is home.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

they look like the kind of weirdos who would booby trap the house though

I learned from video games that you can find dozens of those things just lying around for free.

Yep, full auto firearms are for the rich, connected, and powerful only. They are not for poor plebes like us.

I cannot say for sure, but I would suspect, if they are actually full auto, he personally owns none of those guns. But rather a private group, a type of corporation, actually owns and maintains, and insures all of the these weapons. It's far cheaper and easier to maintain the collection that way.

But almost every one of the pictured firearms are actually available as street legal semi-auto firearms. A lot of FALs were made semi-auto from the start. Semi auto Thompson guns where made by re-welding cut receivers from parts kits and adding semi-auto trigger groups. New semi auto Uzi's were imported into the US and other nations as sporting arms, (and might still be). While I haven't checked lately, new semi-auto G3s can still be had. But they are stupid expensive. I think I have heard of a few M60's built from parts kits in semi auto. But I have never bothered to try and verify their existence. The AR's are most likely cheap as chips semi autos.

The photo IS a completely stupid thing and Massie is a fool in all things. But enough money makes right these days. (Pun intended) And he has enough money to be a fool.

Republicans are so weird and gross

You know what? This is fucking weird. Even as a recreational shooter, this is weird.

I love my AR-15 but I'm certainly not going to be sending out Christmas cards with a picture of me holding it.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 3 months ago (1 children)

That's your problem: you don't love them enough. Each of those humans is in a relationship with the gun they're holding, so it wouldn't be a family photo without them. This is a totally normal, not at all weird, picture to take and share with people!

That's because you're not some kind of weird freak, @[email protected]

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 months ago

I've always considered myself weird so it's kind of a bummer that the word is being used to describe the Republicans.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 3 months ago

Weird AF, but I'll at least give points for proper trigger discipline in this photo. Most of the time when you see magats with guns they have their fingers on the trigger.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 3 months ago (1 children)

What's the message here exactly? "Merry Christmas, and if that's not your holiday we're ready for that, too?"

Also, anyone remember https://awkwardfamilyphotos.com ?

[–] [email protected] 9 points 3 months ago (1 children)

You see this is a more appropriate family photo, of each of them showing what their hobbies are.

(Amazing website dude! Haha.)

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 months ago

I don't know when that was taken, but God damn that's the most 80s looking photo I've ever seen

[–] [email protected] 15 points 3 months ago (1 children)

The bar is very low, but at least I see trigger discipline

"It's totally normal and wholesome to take a Christmas card family picture where everyone is holding semi-auto rifles"

-Weirdos

This man had the resources and motivation to get a machine gun and chose, of all things, an M60. Over the far superior M249 SAW. Pathetic.

Rep. Thomas Massie looks so comfortable and normal holding that gun on the couch. He’s so cool and normal and this totally normal thing to do seems to come so naturally to him and makes him look so cool and freedom.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 3 months ago

Are they holding Christmas hostage?

[–] [email protected] 9 points 3 months ago

It's for Jesus' birthday! Jesus loved weapons and deadly force.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 3 months ago (5 children)

death is apparently the real reason for the season

im sure jesus would just love to see these people celebrating his birthday with devices whose sole purpose is killing humans.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 3 months ago

They're just ahead of schedule lmao

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 months ago

They're for defending freedom you dumbass

You know, from unarmed people

Completely ignoring the reason for the season. Happy holidays!

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 months ago

No little gun ornaments on the tree?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 months ago

What a buncha goobers

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Jesus would be totally cool with this. Uh huh. Yep.

It's all fun and games with those rifles until Robot Santa Claus drops down the Chimney with a Semi-auto shotgun, ready for some close-quarters mayhem.

It’s a goddamn shame none of them was doing finger guns honestly.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

There are no magazines in any of the guns and it doesn’t look like anyone is carrying one. I don’t see any in the photo at all. What the fuck are they going to do it the photographer draws on them or some rando runs in with a gun? Bunch of fucking idiots can’t even protect themselves with all those guns.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

I don't know if it's a good look to make fun of them for being extra safe. There's plenty to focus on already

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I’m not sure anything about this picture is safe. Can you show me where anything in it is safe? I want to specifically know where in this photo it’s safe to be, say, a woman who wants bodily autonomy or, say, anyone who isn’t straight. Or what about people who want to stay safe in a pandemic? Ironically his wife isn’t even safe in this photo.

Their worldview isn’t consistent. That’s what’s funny. From their perspective, they need really big guns to feel safe. The irony is they can’t use them. From our perspective the whole fucking thing is ridiculous but that’s just preaching to the choir.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 months ago

That is funny

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 months ago

Didn't someone photoshop a bunch of penises in their hands in place of the guns?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

What’s in the heads of those people, I am not sure I want to know

whole family wouldn’t even blink as they move down some poor bastard with high velocity lead. True american soul

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 months ago

I can't see how that can be anything but an implied threat to those who would challenge him.
