Furry Chat

It took me more then 10 years(Me 27) years to do that. I was so afraid. But I had luck, it went well.
With 17 I started to accept what I am, but I was just to afraid. I did come out many years ago to a select group of a few, one of them died, two slowly left my life which really hurt me, and one was left, no one else was left who knew.
But I saw that it eventually just really destroyed my mental health and I thought now or it will kill me.

I just hope that the next generations will not have to have this painful experience, because yet it truly was painful.

I use twitter and I really like the furry art community on there. I also like Mastodon or related ActivityPub services.

Due to recent events lots of people search for alternatives and I feel just very frustrated see all those artists looking for Zucks Threads or Jacks Bluesky when Mastodon is right there, without a chance of a twitter situation ever happening again. They seem to avoid Mastodon like cats avoiding water.
What have we done wrong, and how can we make it better.

Title kinda says it all. When trying to browse New, cause I like to see new posts and new discussions cropping up, every 5-10 posts it seems to be a post from the Lemmy.online rss feed bot gathering posts from reddit and posting them here. And their is like one new post from a human inbetween. (・`ω´・)

This was rather... Annoying to say the least. It kinda bugged me because it feels like a bot run amuck trying to Karma farm when their is no karma to be earned here. (￢_￢;)

I like to see posts and discussions from the community here on Lemmy. Not stuff from Reddit because a bot is sharing it. (눈_눈)

Now I get it, sometimes their can be useful or interesting things shared by the bot and some people may want that. Some of you use it to get more yiff than you do here on Lemmy and I fault none of you for that. (Though I got an RSS reader on my Fedora install that takes care of the yiff content from reddit for me.) (￣ω￣;)

Now I know it is a problem I have and I fixed it by blocking the bot. ( ´ ω ` )

But it does leave me curious, how many of you use the bot to get that extra dose of yiff or any other content from reddit? Or were you like me and blocked the bot due to how annoying it has become for you? (•ิ_•ิ)?

I was looking through some old songs from animated movies tonight. This one brought on some intense nostalgia. I know all dogs go to heaven 2 isn't the best movie, but I had the biggest crush on Sasha la Fleur. And I very vividly remember loving this song, but feeling embarrassed to admit it to anyone (don't think I ever did).

I first discovered Klonoa in a demo disc for the PS2. I was way younger back then, of course and even though I wasn't able to afford the game I fell for the character.

Fan art of Klonoa was probably one of the reasons I discovered the furry fandom.

Well, furry is a big part of my life, but unfortunately I feel like I'm missing out on a lot by but expressing it more.

When I was a teen I loved the idea of wearing a collar and having furry posters all over the walls. And now that I'm an adult in his thirties I dress very vanilla and my home decorations are too. It's like one of those things you always want to do, but then you need to either negotiate with your partner or explain things... At which I'm very bad.

getting used to the lemmy instances has been proving difficult ^^; but I'm trying! I'm definitely gonna try being active here. I hope to see more creators join lemmy too ^o^

I just saw this game come up on steam today. Wondering if any of you have played it. I may not be big into Macro furs, but this game looks really fun and looks like a spiritual successor to Rampage. I might pick it up anyway since it is only $5.00.

For me, joining the furry fandom has had a huge impact on my life in a good way. I learned that it's okay if I'm different or "cringe" as long as what I'm doing is making me happy. I no longer need validation from others that what I'm doing is okay because I now realize that those types of people needlessly bully individuals who do stuff that doesn't match their definition of "based". I feel more confident in talking to other people which led me to becoming friends with the best person I've ever met who is now my partner.

I'm curious to know your story about joining the fandom and how it has impacted you so I can get to know this community better.

Back on reddit I was a chronic lurker, but with this fresh start is the opportunity to be a real part of a community!

I plan to use this account to share my not insubstantial collection of yiff with everyone, and the odd funny as well.

Why alpharius? Because I'm a big old warhammer nerd and it tickles my funny bone to name this account Alpha when it's the alt to my main, Omega.

sighs There's been a lot of small changes in the last two days. And to topi it off yesterday we had a moderation incident which lead me to restrict community creation.

It might be my subjective perception because I've had to deal with all the stuff and then write every update to the rules and announcement, but I am worried you're feeling overwhelmed with all these small changes and announcements.

Fortunately I think the current setup should cover our bases for some time while I work in the background on staff onboarding to help me out with moderation.

Despite the small adjustments I still want this place to be as open as possible, allowing anyone to have and run their own community.

I'm honestly excited and humbled by the huge amount of support the instance has received so far. It really feels like we're building something special.

I don't know if you've ever been in that situation, but imagine you wanted to build a huge sand castle or a fort with your friends, and everyone chips in. Someone goes like "I know! I can build a tower", another then says "and I'll build the moat", while in the background someone is yelling "leave something for me, I'm gonna run and fetch is some soda!".

It feels a bit like that.

Tomorrow I'll share a little bit more about the vision, a possible mini-roadmap, but also about some challenges we'll likely face.

But now I just want to thank everyone and give you a big hug!

I haven't been to a furry convention in a lot of time... which ones do you recommend?

Doesn't matter if it's far away. I do want to eventually be able to travel, but since I haven't been keeping track of conventions, I wouldn't know which ones people recommend nowadays.

I often hear that there's many smaller conventions that trump the larger ones in regards to experience, and that's what I'm most curious about.

looks like subscribing to kbin.social magazines is not working again but any other community i could find on stuff like beehaw.org or lemmy.ml let me subscribe and now i really have a pretty good home feed going :D hope y'all are still enjoying it too! i hope a lot of people stay. imo the internet is too mature for companies to force people away or make ridiculous changes to their entire userbase. decentralized, federated stuff keeps the control to the users :D

I was planning to wait till the 28th to remove all my data from reddit and delete my account. But I decided to bite the bullet early Incase Spez and the other Reddit admins tried any shenanigans to stop redact data removal and account deletions.

As of now, I am now fully reddit free!

There's been a lot of progress today! Also a few questions have been raised which I'll have to look into tomorrow.

Even if this never gets as big as reddit (although at this point who knows?), in the end what matters is quality over quantity and I feel we're on the right track ❤️

The only subreddits that's really doing anything about it is YiffBondage and Yiffgif, who have the same moderator (here's the link to their announcement: https://redd.it/14641t4)

All other subreddits I'm subscribed to won't do anything. r/yiff and r/gfur haven't said a word as far as I know.

This hasn't anything to do with me running yiffit. For all I care they could setup their own yiff focused instance. The reason I care is because anyone who believes that Reddit won't be ready to kill yiff subreddits to appeal more to advertisers is seriously deluded.

To be honest I believe that by the end of 2023 Reddit will have banned NSFW subreddits or at least most fringe NSFW subreddits just like imgur recently did the same. They're just dealing with this 3rd party app thing first and after people have stopped caring about that they're going to hunt down NSFW subreddits, starting with yiff or anything that's "weird".

If they don't speak up now, it'll be eventually too late.

When I go to upload images, I get an error saying:

SyntaxError: JSON.parse: unexpected character at line 1 column 1 of the JSON data
