Hi all,
Following everything that's going on with API and protests I decided not to abandon the community, but to relax the rules in order to make moderating this space a more straightforward process.
The list below are proposed rule changes. None of this is final and your feedback is needed. There's no rush to make changes, so there will be no rush.
- All posts TITLES must use a valid [TAG].
This one stays with no changes. Title tags are tied to automod config and it would disrupt everything too much to try and get rid of it.
2. Post your resources!
This one stays as well, but in a relaxed manner. Links wouldn't be required, only encouraged. A list of things used in a setup is still necessary.
3. No piracy.
This one stays for obvious reasons.
4. No low effort/low quality submissions.
This rule would be removed entirely. It would be up to the community to downvote what they don't like or deem unfit for this community. Obvious off-topic posts like... idk, stories about your day to day life would be removed, all posts still need to be about Android theming.
5. No posting .apks.
Really undecided about this one. Obvious malware is a concern, but there are legitimate cases where you might wanna share an apk with no ill intent. Like hishoot templates. Please share your thoughts about this one.
6. Don't spam.
This one stays and would capture unrelated, off-topic posts mentioned above.
7. Self promotion posts allowed once every Friday.
Here there would be some changes. The format would remain, self-promotion would only be allowed on Fridays, but the requirements could be decreased. Obvious app spam from one dev isn't ok. Promoting your app once a week should be enough.
8. No apple hate or flamewars.
This would be removed and combined with the next one.
9. No foul language.
This would stay and be combined with the previous one to make a new rule "Don't be an asshole".
10. No self-hosted giveaways.
This rule would be removed. If developers want to share promo codes in their [Promotion] posts, you guys should be able to enjoy them.
Those are my suggested changes to the rules. If you believe any rules should be added, changed, removed and I haven't touched on that, feel free to make this known, let's discuss that.
And remember, this is not a final list, but only a conversation starter on the topic.
Cheers.
