Currently there is a filter list under settings that shows keyword filters, but I have not been able to find any way to view and edit community/instance filters that have been created by blocking a community or instance.

Opening a post and saving it using the middle ‘save’ button, then returning to the feed still shows the swipe left action as ‘Save’ (rather than ‘Unsave’).

Likewise if you save via swipe then open the post and ‘unsave’, the swipe action does not flip and still shows ‘unsave’.

Also just noticed that the very top post in a feed goes ‘dim’ as if it’s marked as read when scrolled off the top of the view, but then pull to refresh reloads it as unread. Opening the post to mark as read and then refreshing hides it as expected (I have hide read enabled).

At least, I consider this a bug… :). It seems the scroll out of view trigger fires no matter which direction you scroll, and I think it should be only when scrolling posts ‘up’ off the top of the view.

For example, scroll a post until you can just see the first line of its title then scroll it off the bottom again. It will be marked as read when in fact you’ve only seen a few pixels of it.

Apologies if this is old and I can’t find it. I’m making the move (somewhat reluctantly) from Memmy, as I think development has stopped there which is a shame. Arctic is the closest I could find, and has a couple of key features like mark read on scroll that I really like.

But I’d love to see the community name above the post—gives good context for how to treat what you read in the post title, etc. I find I’m having to scroll down first then back up to read the content.

I couldn’t see an option anywhere for that—is it possible?

This app gets an automatic 10/10 from me just for the feature of hiding the nav bars on scroll. However is there a way to hide the thumbnails on self posts?

If you use the code block mark up ``` when sending a message, the result message is very difficult to read with a blue background text box. I discovered this when trying to send somebody text in markdown that wouldn’t be interpreted by the rendering engine.

Feel free to ask if I am not clear enough

While browsing through the 'All' subscription feed I'll occasionally see a post from an instance that looks interesting to me, for example programming.dev, and I would like to browse the communities that are hosted on that instance.

The search functionality within the app only allows for me to find communities with programming.dev in the community name. Currently I have to navigate to the instance directly in a browser using the httx://*/communities?listingType=Local endpoint to view all its local communities.

Even if incorporating such a view is a possibility I'm not sure where you would integrate it in to the UI. Maybe an Instance sub-menu with a nested Local Communities menu item underneath the existing Community menu item in the ... Options menu at the top of the screen while viewing a post?

On a semi-related note, would it be possible to add an option to view the community sidebar while viewing a post and its comments? I currently have to scroll up to the top of the post, click on the link to follow though to the community directly, then open the sidebar from the Options menu there.

The UI elements is overlapping in the deep level of the comments. The post ref: https://lemmy.world/post/13554055

When I open a link to a video posted in a comment and it opens in the browser, I have to make sure I interact with the screen to keep the display timeout from triggering otherwise the display shuts off and the video/audio stops.

Thanks.

Small feedback (lemmy.world)

First of all, love this app! This is the only app I tried that both have moderation tools and notifications support among all Lemmy apps. Just one small issue tho: the notification count dot on the app icon won’t go away after I marked all notifications as read. I am currently using the TestFlight.

The new mod over at [email protected] posted a Lemmy apps megathread. Arctic, of course, is featured!

But, the post utilizes tables and spoilers, and is currently a little tough to view on Arctic. Is there a plan to implement table and spoiler support?

Arctic is phenomenal. My go to lemmy client and every bugfix on the 0.4.x release has made me really happy to be using it. Personally I would happily pay a yearly sub for it when it's out of testing.

Latest share action to Open Lemmy links in Arctic is super handy! Thank you @[email protected] !

I notice that “Open In Arctic” has “in” capitalized, but every other share action on iOS seems to be sentence case. Any way you can make the new Arctic action match the other share actions? 🙏

Something like the feature in the image, showing how many new comments since the last time you opened the post.

And, as many have already said, the new icon options are awesome!

Inbox API Errors (dmv.social)
submitted 4 months ago by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

I’m not sure what happened but I’m getting API errors when trying to access Inbox messages that open to a post.

Is this app continuing to be developed? The last post in this community is from 5 months ago and the GitHub issues are old as well. I really like this app but it’s been crashing and obviously the API errors cropped up.

Is this something where I need to log out\in ?

Thanks for all the efforts thus far.

First, thank you for building this wonderful app.

This is my favorite feature of the app: the ability to return to the previous post by swiping from right to left.

With the latest TestFlight version, I noticed a new bug: the text size on the returning post is set to the system size, and once complete open, switches to the user’s choice of text size. The result is a little jarring.

To replicate, set the text time to something other than the system size. View a post, go back. And then swipe across to return to the post. You should be able to see the effect.

The latest icon in TestFlight is gorgeous! I am loving the ~~mountain~~ iceberg 😍 is there anyway we can get a few variations though? I would love to get that mountain on a orange or reddish background if that’s simple to do 🙏

Thanks for the other changes in recent update, I am really digging that crosspost indicator to quickly jump to other comment threads about the same post.

The new default icon is clean too!

Minor feedback (feddit.de)
submitted 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

Arctic is awesome as always, I just noticed following:

  • bug: Swipe gesture displays "unvote" only for voted posts but not for voted comments:

  • bug(?): swipe gestures and long presses don’t work on posts/comments on profile pages

  • feature request: peek to preview features possible? Like in Safari or Apollo you were able to long press a post or a link to preview without opening it. For links they also previewed with reader mode (if the setting is enabled) which was kinda neat.

  • feature request: image/thumbnail size setting for compact posts (eg. small to large)

  • feature request: ability to favorite communities

  • feature request: mark notifications as read when tapping/opening them

Thanks again for all your work!

Edit: removed image titles because they don’t work well, see my comment

Feature requests (lemmy.world)
submitted 4 months ago by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

I’m a big fan of the app, and I think it does stand out. However, there’s a couple of areas that I think really do need to be addressed, especially if it’s going to become the Apollo of lemmy.

First, using the link widget should at the very least autopopulate with the highlighted text, and if the paste buffer contains a url, probably autopopulate with that as well. It’s beyond frustrating to select a block of text to turn into a link, only to have to go back, copy the text into the buffer, then recopy the link into the buffer, and then paste it in. All of the data are already available via the api.

The second is that switching user accounts should not reset the current post view back to the list of posts view. In Apollo, a user could switch accounts (say, to a mod or other dedicated account) while looking at a post/thread and still continue with the current view. One could even do this in the course of writing a reply, so that if (for example) an author had a professional account for their books and a separate account for general interactions, they could switch over if it was appropriate to apply to someone as a published SF author as opposed to the account where they posted cat memes. I recognize that the architecture of lemmy might make that inapplicable in some cases (eg if the switched account is on an instance that doesn’t have that particular post for whatever reason), but I think that should be an edge case rather than having the reset apply across the board.

The last one is a feature that I don’t think even Apollo got right but which one of the other lemmy apps is very close to nailing. Having a reply interrupted, either because the app crashed or got backgrounded or was interrupted by the user, shouldn’t erase the possibility of resuming. The typed response, along with the comment it’s responding to, should be saved out. Apollo only saved the text of the comment, while the other lemmy app lets you jump right back into it with both the response and the target. I’d love to see this at least at the single comment level, if not queuing up several independently across accounts. The storage space is trivial and the context is ( I imagine) available.

That all said, this is a remarkable and mature app, especially given how new it is, and I love it.

This may be linked to how the trending bot works, but I seem to have seen this behaviour elsewhere as well. Lemmy links now appear as email that I can’t click anymore.
