I posted about this a few weeks ago and I think this video might help those in the same spot as I was.

This is all products of my deranged mind and should not be mistaken for anything else.

Before the Elden Ring, before the Crucible, before the Elden Beast crashed into the Lands Between and fucked everything up forever, there was the One Great.

And the One Great was a massive tree that in essence WAS all of the Lands Between.

And it rained down a continual gentle storm of likely blue Immortal Essence, without souls, without thought, without division.

But this bounty of fundamental energy draws predators, and deep in the vast unknown the Greater Will sensed this delicious feast and dispatched one of its larvae, the Elden Beast, to begin the process of plundering the Lands Between of every drop of Immortal essence.

So the Elden Beast crash landed in the middle of the One Great, the Great Tree, shattering it and in its smouldering crater, the Immortal Essence of the One Great Tree was polluted with the golden essence of the Greater Will.

And that Immortal Essence began to take form, and shape, and have will and desire, and love and conflict, life and death.

The beings that this tainted Immortal Essence created fell into conflict, struggling for power and prestige. And their willingness to fight, the bright burning of their lives, their desire to strive and dominate, these all became glorious golden energy to feed back to the Greater Will via a corrupted conduit spawned from the Crucible and the Elden Beast.

As long as those sharded essences of the One Great continue to fight and strive and struggle, the Greater WIll shall never be hungry, and what being in the Lands Between exists without struggle?

Marika or the God that fled, it matters not, Crucible or Erd Tree, it matters not, as long as the Greater Will is constantly fed the struggle of willful beings.

Which is why the Frienzied Flame is the only egalitarian ending.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk, MAY CHAOS TAKE THE WORLD!

Anyone else notice this? Also if you look out into the water where the DLC supposedly is to be you'll notice everything is "pulled in" and closer than it should be. Caelid tower is way too close.

This all fits because you need to invert the tower and there's so much reference to the DLC in the Carian Study Hall

I hadn't played a Souls/like/borne game before Elden Ring, but the moment I did I fell in love with the sub-genre.

That said, I've never played any of the DLC before, so I'm wondering how I need to approach it. For context: I finished Elden Ring but never started a NG+ run.

Can I jump back in with my guy, or am I going to have to work my way up to the part of the game that unlocks the DLC?

Thanks.

No word of Elden Ring 2, but another game like it is at least in the cards

If you're like me and never had much sucess with parrying, try out the buckler. It has the most lenient timing and fast startup.

Carian retaliation on a medium shield is good too but it takes a little longer to come out.

Well not first, but third i guess, tho i did not finish the game.

First build was faith based, and i easily got untill Raya Lucaria, got bored, and saw that i sold or removed a bunch of incantations and ashes i could have used.

Now im restsrting as a more str than faith pve build, looking fot advice - what are some cool weapons to use? I like the morningstar for soem reason. I plan to either buff with fats and incantations and use some minor flames for giggles.

How would i level up? I plan to run to weeping peninsula and grab what i can there before i head off to Stormveil, making a detour around rotten lands too.

A WIP for a fanart piece I’ve been mulling over for a while now inspired by the Emperor of Mankind from Warhammer, but with Radagon instead. It’s not quite what I was going for so far, but that’s fine, since I still like it. Radagon obviously wouldn’t have power armor, but I still went with the golden stuff.

I was also thinking about adding a symbol of the twin-headed Cuckoo, which Radagon came to use to represent his Cuckoo Knights following his marriage to Renalla.

First time souls-borne player here. I started the game out with the warrior class because I figured it would be the most well rounded, however, I did a little reading and found that the samurai and vagabond were supposedly good classes for people just starting out. Is it worth it to reset the little progress I have to start out with a different class that might be better?

I'm making my way through new game plus and thought I'd try collect some of the weapons and items I missed first time around. Warrior Jar Shard is one I'm not too proud of collecting.

Title. I'm mid/late game and decided I wanted to try out some new weapons that I've been sitting on. Had no idea this attribute buff was the case but just spent some time farming my Faith up so I could try the SONAF that's been in my inventory forever. I realized my vigor strength and dexterity jumped by 5 and was confused and now realized it's only when SONAF is equipped. And it seems to apply to other weapons equipped at the same time? Or at least the attributes stay in place even.

How can I beat take advantage of this. Is there something I'm missing? If it's basically like having half of another radagons soreseal when equipped, maybe I need to beef my strength/dex a bit so I can carry the SONAF as a buff to other weapons, too!

I had never played any FromSoftware title before i picked this game up on a buzz of recommendations from End of Year best game lists. I purposely didn't read any how-to or spoilers posts and dove in. No clue why but i went Bandit class. I had no idea what was going on and hung out looking at birds and beautiful scenery. I was weak and snuck around everywhere. Slowly i got used to the mechanics and progressed by just going everywhere i could. Only after dying countless times, making mistakes and wondering why I was levelling so slowly did i venture to the Reddit (now lemmy) EldenRing community. I steered away from obvious spoilers and gleaned a few tips and tricks (wish i had levelled vigor and not balanced stats out though i did concentrate on dex) However one thought kept returning. Perhaps I'm not very good at this game. Ive only just started hanging out in the Lake of Liurnia after going the Weeping Peninsula route and im 250+ hours in and only level 40 something. Im not complaining. I love this game. It fills me with a sense of wonder and satisfaction that I've rarely found consistently in other games. But i do have a nagging suspicion that perhaps i still have hundreds of hours of game learning to go amd that I'm still scrub. ( those peaky imps will always get me or a pack of wolves and I was overjoyed to finally beat the Tree Sentinel) Im still amazed how balanced and thoughtful this game is. How it teaches you as you go along by not making things easy but when you're ready you can progress. And i love to just wander about and see what's what. Sometimes hours just me and Torrent just cruising. What do you think? Am I under levelled for my hours. Does it matter? (I kinda think not) Is this usual for a first time FS player?

Recently, my girlfriend got interested in Elden Ring, and I'm trying to give her some advice. She doesn't have much experience in gaming, mostly chill games like Stardew Valley and such.

I'm afraid I'll scare her off if I monologue about i-frames, poise damage and parry windows, so: People whose first FromSoft experience was Elden Ring, what advice did you find actually usable for getting into the game?
