There are 2 popular communities dedicated to Fediverse topic, [email protected] and [email protected], so why create another one?

It's mostly for me, so that I have somewhere to post where instance admins or community moderators personal beliefs doesn't prevent honest discussions.

I have no expectations of this community growing, but people are welcome to post and comment and if someone wants to help it grow, message me.

Flohmarkt is still a really young platform, but it shows promise as a way for people to create listings, and reach out to one another.

Meta has been spotted working on a new feature that would allow a post — as well as all its replies — to disappear in 24 hours.

A beloved social news reading platform has been carefully inching towards full connectivity with the Fediverse. This update is the closest yet.

With more social and blogging platforms joining the Fediverse in the future, there will undoubtedly be some confusion over how to display user handles online. Many people will probably forget to add the extra “@” symbol and instead type out an email address on their blog or social network.

Federated social media platform revolving around discussion of things including but possibly not limited to: games, books, movies

Features

  • Post about the things you love! Any post can have a "context" (e.g. a game), which is searchable, browsable, and followable.
    • Contextual posts can be tagged as comments, excerpts (e.g. screenshots / recordings from playthroughs), or reviews (with scores)
    • Posts federated to other fediverse platforms automatically have ("out-of-band") hashtags applied, so others can view and follow your post context from e.g. mastodon or gotosocial
  • Interact with the wider fediverse! Post, share, and interact with other Gush! instances, as well as other services that communicate via activitypub.
    • Comments, quotations, and reviews from Bookwyrm will also apply Gush!-style context and review ratings

Interesting discussion, what do Lemmy people think?

In this episode of the Fediverse Files, ‪youtube.com/@DocPop talks with Bart Decrem, the co-creator of Mammoth, an open source Mastodon app for iOS.

Doc and Bart discuss how the walled gardens of the present are finally getting some real competition from a better, and more open social web. A return to the original promise of the web. That anyone can find a home, their own place on the internet, and connect with whomever they want without getting trapped within a single platform thanks to open protocols like ActivityPub and open platforms like Mastodon. Whether it’s through a newsletter, a podcast or a publisher’s website, Bart’s goal is to get a million websites and a hundred million people onto the fediverse.

To join a waitlist: https://bandwagon.fm

I'm so excited to welcome the first batch of beta-testing #Musicians to #Bandwagon. I've so enjoyed listening to your work and setting up real #Fediverse profiles for you.

Today, I'm sending out emails to ~ thirty more #Bands on the waitlist.

Together, we'll make Bandwagon a viable open alternative to the big corporate label sites. One that's easy to set up, that anyone can host on their own, and most importantly, helps get your band out in front of the millions of people on the Fediverse.

Long-form publishing has been a mainstay of the Web since the very beginning. As the network adopts it, we have to think about UX.

Coming soon in the #Peertube livechat plugin: notes for moderators.

Moderatos will be able to create notes. Like the existing TODO-list feature, editing will be done in real time: if Mike creates or modifies a note, all of other moderators will see it right away.

Notes can be reordered, also in real time.

And it will be possible to associate a note with an occupant. That way, moderators can take notes on problematic participants. (This part remains to be done).
