I generally use the default experience that my instance gives of Lemmy, but there are some Lemmy extensions available in the Firefox addons store but I don't generally like to install many extensions apart from the strictly necessary ones, and among them I have Violentmonkey because I need it in some places.

Does anyone know some userscripts to improve the Lemmy experience?

It would be a good idea to add an "add-ons" category in the megathread and a "userscripts" section.

If anyone is interested its uo for grabs and have a large userbase and it is kinda the point of making apps open source . So godspeed to whoever takes up the mantle if no one does goodbye lift off i guess.

Are there any tools to visualize community growth over time like subredditstats?

I find it really annoying. The apps I've used previously without that feature don't work anymore since the update.

Edit: Thanks all!

I think this community is one that should be very straightforward. It is a community to post about lemmy apps, tools, features, comparisons, etc. It's also a valuable space where app creators and users can interact. This makes it a special place where creators can share best practices with one another and users can share their appreciation and discuss feature requests.

I like lemmy. I like lemmy apps. That's why I'm here. I appreciate the many different approaches that developers take to give users a positive experience, and I think this community is a neat part of that positive experience.

Okay, the elephant in the room: we have come through a challenge with a moderator who was not a good fit for this community. They approached it with a particular agenda, and were more hands-on than this community warrants. That user has since closed their account and removed many of their posts. Some of those posts were helpful, and I trust that members of this community will recreate the content that was valuable. I also want to express appreciation for the many active members of this community who have recently shared their thoughts about what this community could look like in the future, and who spoke up about restoring stability to the community. I also want to acknowledge @[email protected] for stepping in and providing a bridge as an admin.

In a community like this, a moderator (or team) should be maintaining of stability and civility while remaining otherwise invisible. My only agenda is to be consistent and predictable; open and transparent communication is key.

So, that being said, Please feel free to share any meta thoughts, questions, or requests in this thread. Otherwise, lets get back to the interesting part of exploring the different Lemmy Apps and Tools!

Basically, title.

I know Lemmios does as I found it searching for "modlog" in this community, but couldn't find information on other apps.

I have been told Sync doesn't support it, but that's all I know

Hello everyone. I apologize for the rollercoaster ride in this community over the past week and a half. I have one more change to announce: @[email protected] has been removed as the community moderator. This is in response to multiple private complaints from community members, as well as behaviors inside and outside this community that were brought to the admin team’s attention.

I made the mistake of shortcutting the usual lemmy.world processes when I appointed the user as the new mod. If anyone would like to volunteer to become the new community moderator, you can email [email protected] and make a request. The lemmy.world community team will follow their process from there.

Again, I apologize for all the rapid changes.

As always this community is run for its users and your complaints will not be falling on deaf ears so you now don't have to mark foss or non foss or anything just be civil . Also if you have any feedback do tell and it will be taken inti consideratiom. Also please don't ask to make this foss only community because i won't and major part of the user base does'nt like it and thinking back it was a bad idea overall sorry.

I have put in a lot of effort but still mistakes like including some abandoned apps which are unusable or excluding some app that has made itself cross platform or if i missed an app or tool you can tell me that too and i will add or remove accordingly. This post will be pinned in community for review of the users for some day and will be unpinned after.

Hello lemmings, I'm hoping you can help me find the perfect app for Lemmy browsing. In the before times, I used Relay for years on the old subs. Since I migrating I primarily used Sync, which is fine, but I cannot create an alt account login in it on lemmynsfw. I also have used Thunder, which I like but account switching is painful and it takes several minutes for communities to load when switching between accounts.

What's the best app for me? One with mod controls would also be helpful.

Edit: Whoops I left out the important stuff. Mobile, and Android, FOSS preferred

It certainly is not that we don't have enough content to post here or interact with because this /c/ supports crosspostung. All opinions will be considered.

Also if there is any new apps to add to tge megathread or anything to remove from it do suggest that too as i don't want to make another thread for updating it as i try as much as its possible to keep it updated https://lemmy.today/post/6716339 .

The changes made to community are withdrawn because users opinions . But from now on when making a post your first word on tge title should be [NOT FOSS] or [FOSS] respectively. Also i have no intention in anything expect help new users find foss apps i hope you all understand that.

I'm looking for a way to pull images from my Lemmy feed and display them on desktop tiles, similar to Scrolldit. Ideally, the images would refresh every so often.

Does anything like this exist?

Thank you

MEGATHREAD for fully FOSS lemmy apps and tools without any ads, tracking or any other anti-features

If any app or tool (regardless of the platform they are in) you know of that is fully FOSS and doesn’t have any ads, tracking, or any other anti-features that didn’t make the list, it is a mistake and you can DM me and I will add it. The same goes for apps or tools that are not really FOSS or have anti-features. Even though I have tried my best, some mistakes could’ve been made. If the newer updates of one of the apps or tools listed made it unworthy to be included in the list, the platform it listed on isn’t available for it, or the link is broken, you can DM me and I will remove/fix it.

[ APP STORE UPDATE ] Mlem for Lemmy 1.2

Mlem 1.2 is out of beta and live on the App Store! We’ve got loads of new features big and small for you to enjoy.

Major Features

  • Profile editor: you can now change your display name, biography, avatar and banner image, and matrix ID. Check it out in Settings -> Account.
  • Easy-tap links: links detected in posts and comments now get a nice big tappable button at the bottom of the post. You can copy and share these links via long-press on the link button, and customize their behavior in Settings -> General.
  • Tab bar navigation: tapping the currently selected tab while at the top of the feed will navigate back. Reselecting the search tab from the top of the feed will focus the search bar.
  • Upgraded post composer: we’ve made the post composer prettier, added the ability to upload images from files and clipboard, and made it show the account you're posting from. It also now displays a warning if your post runs afoul of your instance’s slur filter.
  • Instance page: you can now view detailed instance information, accessible from a community or profile via the ellipsis menu in the navigation bar.
  • Saved content feed: saved content has moved! It’s now listed under Feeds along with all the other feeds, and you can also open it from the app shortcuts.

Minor Features

  • Voting icons are now colorized in compact mode
  • “Report” and “Block” items in context menus are now colored red and ask for confirmation
  • Fixed some inconsistent wording and incorrect capitalization
  • Improved performance of markdown rendering
  • Redesigned the account switcher and tweaked the behavior of long press/swipe up: long press on profile now swaps accounts immediately if you have two accounts and opens the switcher if you have more, while swipe up always opens the switcher. Both of these gestures can be enabled and disabled in Settings -> Accounts -> Quick Switcher
  • Added an indicator to posts from subscribed communities in All and Local feeds
  • Added headers to feed pages
  • Redesigned app icon selector
  • Added more app icons
  • Added a new comments indicator to posts you’ve already viewed
  • Added the option to open links in the system browser, rather than in-app
  • Added support for image links and shields.io badges
  • Added options for how your accounts are sorted in the account view and quick switcher
  • Tidied the settings page
  • Added the option to disable tap-to-collapse on comments
  • Refined the swipe action activation angle, so it should be harder to accidentally trigger it while scrolling
  • Added the option to require biometric unlocking when opening the app
  • Added the option to automatically collapse child comments
  • Redesigned the profile page

Bug Fixes

  • Disabled swipe actions on items embedded within the post/comment composer
  • Fixed a bug where favoriting a community from the ellipsis menu would cause the subscription status to display incorrectly
  • Fixed a bug where adding an account while already logged in would fail on instances running 0.19
  • Fixed a bug where account details were not being loaded in the user view
  • Fixed “failed to determine site version” error
  • Saved content now loads dynamically on scroll, rather than all at once
  • Fixed /u/user@instance and /c/community@instance links not behaving properly

As always, a huge thanks to our TestFlight for all their bug reports and feedback.

Cheers,

Download Arctic on the AppStore!

I am thrilled to announce that Arctic is now available on the AppStore! Looking back, it's amazing to see how much progress Arctic has made in the last six months. Initially, I began working on Arctic as a personal project to fill the void after leaving Reddit during the API fiasco. I had no intention of releasing it publicly. Now, I have a fully-featured Lemmy client, a fantastic group of beta testers on TestFlight, and an official release on the AppStore.

However, the journey isn't over yet. I have many exciting plans for Arctic, and this is just a significant milestone. Going forward, I plan to release more targeted updates on TestFlight and create a public roadmap for AppStore releases.

I would like to thank everyone who was involved with Arctic's TestFlight for all the valuable feedback and suggestions that have helped shape Arctic!

it would be really great to have a lemmy client (or feature of existing client) that allows for batch downloading of a user specified list of communities.
this would allow a user to download all the content for the day or week on wifi internet and then depart from the source of internet but slowly & carefully read a selection of material(text posts, comment discussion, and even images like memes).
one benefit is that it would be extra impossible to see what users are loading/viewing because they already loaded everything and are disconnected from the internet entirely. performance is also good because there is no network latency that would be experienced, each time, when accessing the servers.

What I'm looking for specifically is adding tags to users, highlighting their names and a vote counter next to their names.

Sync has user tagging and highlighting if you pay monthly for Ultra.

Connect and Boost has user tagging.

Lemmy isn't to bad right now, but I'm definitely seeing a trend of people I'd like to avoid and or at least be weary of.

I prefer not using the block function since it remove to much context sometimes.
