The one con that comes to mind every time I see an article or video about it (thanks EU, by the way,) despite it being obviously a good step forward and something that should have been necessary for a long time, is that I feel like brands are going to find little slimy loopholes around giving you a fair swap.

I think they're going to pull something like "here's the replacement battery, it's available, but it has oh so slightly less mAh available because um, production reasons or something :)" or they're going to be exorbitantly expensive. Or "here's a replacement, but uh-oh! It isn't guaranteed waterproof!" Or simply having poorer quality cells in the battery -- original batt lasts a few years, replacement batts last one year. Etc. I think unless "an identical battery" is written into law, it won't be a fair swap. Am I nuts for seeing this sort of pattern in other things and thinking it will apply to mandatory phone battery swap/replacements?

It took me some time to figure out why it was this way, but finally I'm sure. Netlimiter shows no stream in download or upload during halt. I've read same problem with lenovo laptops. Their problem fixed upon unistalling "network boost" but I don't have such features in my laptop.

I do believe I can't actually trust what they say anymore. I don't feel the need to watch their videos as soon as they pop up in my feed.

I used to be the type to watch every video they pumped out... but after GN, I've seen a few vids pop up including WAN show (which I used to watch religiously) and am finding myself deciding to give it a pass.

Anyone else just not arsed about them anymore with all the shit storm that got unleashed the other week?

Hello all,

Just recently subscribed to floatplane and looking through the exclusives in the app (IOS) it only goes back 1 month while on the website it displays them all. Is this normal?

Smartphones being forced to have User-Replaceable Batteries by 2027 isn't enough (link to article)

Unless it's been stated somewhere and missed it, then we also need a universal way to connect batteries to the smartphone motherboard, similar to the way USB type C is universal, otherwise it'll just lead to a new issue of smartphone batteries having proprietary connectors limiting your upgrade options to the smartphone maker (similar to what we have now actually)

I'm currently on a Oneplus 6 that has a dying battery (battery health is at 68%) and the phone is perfect save for the battery. I've tried replacing it, and bought a battery from iFixit buth the replacement battery is defective as well and has even worse health than the original one, I'm getting a refund but this was a real pain, I don't live in the U.S and there are no Onplus service centers in my country and shipping batteries into my country is very problematic. Universal batteries & connectors would be the solution ot this.

This phone could've easily lasted me 2 more years at least (especially with a custom ROM, I just installed LineageOS 20 and I'm loving it) if I got a good battery but now I'm forced to buy a new phone and trash this one.

EU definintely need to add that as a rule that phone manufacturers need to abide by.

Did anyone else think the Recent WAN Show would break viewership recorfsds for WAN? I was really disappointed to see it only do above average WAN viewer numbers.

I'm just posting this here because over the past two weeks this sub has been mostly vitriolic, always towards someone. Oh, look at how (LTT/Linus/GN/Steve/Cutress/viewers/redditors) is evil and so on. I'm tired of this, and I just want to highlight that creators can move on from spats and hate, and as a community, rather than playing the blame/hate game, which benefits no one, we should support (not bully/attack, support) them in being adults, shaking hand and moving on.

Throughout this whole thing (and actually from the GN update saying they'd treat LTT as manufacturer and not as peers), I've been wanting something similar to what happened between Tech Tech Potato and der8auer.

Step 1: argue. Roman and Ian disagree, and call each other out and bicker.

Step2: air dirty laundry: Ian airs the "drama" 's background on stream (), saying collab will never happen

Step3: live viewers and commenters in the VOD comment "you should make good with roman, in some form or another

Step4: 6 months later (17th April to 18Nov 2021) Ian interviews Roman, in a really positive and professional manner. They are adults, they moved on, and they can be professional together ()

THIS is what we should support. Not trying to figure out who to direct the pitchforks and torches to, but supporting different outlets to co-exist healthily.

Let's not make fun or shit on any group right here, and start supporting positive behaviour. Let's be the voice that we want people to hear.

Has been 3 days since the WAN show and we haven't seen any content since. I thought linus said during the WAN show that he had few videos ready to upload even during the "week of introversion".

Not trying to hurry the but it's been days and I sort of miss the content.

Decided to make some PC Upgrades, wanna get th3 most out of my Valve Index. I play alot of VR Chat mainly.

Currently rocking a Zotac Gaming RTX 3060 Twin Edge OC with 12GB VRAM. However it seemed even the most simple world in VRC starts to max out the card, pushing it up to almost 90% usage. I've made sure nothing else is sucking up memory and there isn't anything else. Even tried lowering the headsets quality and it doesn't help much. Is there something I'm missing or do I just need to upgrade?

Edit: Also going to upgrade from a 700W PSU to a 1000W. I've considered overclocking my GPU but I've never done it before and frankly I'm scared lol.

I have a 5600x3d when i originally tested the cpu i was getting benchmark results that were slightly lower than what i expected by about 15 percent 8500 multi and 1700 single in geekbench 6. I reapplied thermal past and benchmarks went up to 9100 and 2100 which is more in line with what I expect, but now benchmark results are back down to where they were previously. I was wondering if anyone can tell me why this happens and if it is indicative of any issues thankyou!

Hello Guys,

what would you think about an educational channel. I mean with the real nerdy stuff and more tutorial for things like pihole, plex, selfhosting, enterprise architecture, networking(vlan, firewall) componenents etc. to create an learning enviroment for wanna be sysadmins?

I'm running real low and the cravings are finally getting really bad! I need my LTT again. That Floatplane exclusive was nice but it's not quite the full experience. Please just one tech tip!?
