Most unrealistic movie I've ever seen. This guy at the front is called a "cock-swain", and he wears this gear the whole time, and not once did any of the "boys" laugh, giggle, not so much as a snicker

lol

i just watched that flick a bit ago. every time they would do those quick cuts during the races showing close-ups of the oar locks rotating, my anxiety would go up because i kept expecting something mechanical to fail even though that would be completely outside of the story dramatically and historically.

also, if even half of that shit where like every douche bag elite team kept trying to screw the washington team by changing the rules, joel edgerton should have pulled out a knife and cut a motherfucker. lol, good tension.

The cuts to the locks, yes! Very weird decision, I'm not sure it was intentional. The movie has some serious issues but I have to admit I did enjoy it

yeah, same. good popcorn flick. though they didn't spend much time in the shantytown, i appreciate they went all out on the set design for it, the broken down car he lived in, and the establishing shots/backdrops of the depression era seattle.

i instantly thought about how, in today's economically distressed communities of the US, unhoused people aren't allowed to cobble together shelters like they did back then. hell, the "contentious" issue for libs is how they keep sending cops to demolish tent camps or seek to commodify them into fee-for-service, socially restrictive non-profit grifts.
