at the time of writing, this: https://lemmy.blahaj.zone/post/104902 is the top post of 196, and the comments are fucking infested with tankies, it's kinda scary

edit: was infested with tankies! i mean there's still a lot of garbage there but luckily the mods stepped in, thanks y'all, we see u <3

Ah that makes sense. Didn't know that thread got that bad.

People who say left unity is a possibility are as dumb as a box of stumps. It's always interesting going to a tankie place and seeing people with lgbt flair talk up Putin, as if they wouldn't be shot on sight.

Left unity is fine. Tankies are leftists in name only.

Could you please define leftism and tankies, I'm very interested. Right now it sounds like people are getting called tankies (and getting banned) just for seeing some good things in actual socialist societies.

"Actual socialist societies" - which ones I wonder?

Also I like the wordplay of "seeing some good things...". If someone replies to a post expressing grievance about the holocaust with "but guys hitler provided good childcare benefits" (made up exmp), are they "just seeing some good things"?

Context matters a bunch and most of the time people saying stuff like that and what you said want to talk about the semantic accuracy of their statement and ignore its context (and the reason they made it), to cry about how they're being censored for a 'technically accurate' statement.

Literally the same rhetoric the "IDW" uses to appeal to the less intelligent of kids. It'd be embarrassing if it'd worked on you.
