Does anyone know why they don't keep the engine rev'ed off-throttle today to keep the MGU-H spinning? It seems like it should:
The only explanation I can think of is that they can exceed the per-lap energy deployment limits specified in the rules without doing this so there's no point. In which case I guess what's bringing this back in 2026 is increased per-lap deployment limits.
I think you’re right with the reason you provided. Spending fuel to keep the MGU-H generating power wastes fuel if the energy can’t be used.
