My unpopular opinion is that the reason for the upvotes in an unpopular opinion post is often that comments are explaining why the OP thinks that way, changing the view of the reader and making it agree with the OP and therefore giving him an upvote

This doesn't answer the question... but it's my 1,001st comment on Lemmy, what the hell.
This thread exemplifies why I love Lemmy so much. It's because we have so many original, free thinkers. We don't always get along, but you can be sure you'll find plenty of brand new ideas when you scroll through these threads.
I hate motorbikes and big dogs. Motorbikes because the engine is too noisy. Big dogs because are dangerous (and kill people) and they bark too much.
Human life begins at some point after conception but before birth. Therefore, there comes a point in pregnancy at which abortion ends a human life.
I don't think most people disagree with this. I think my country's law draws the line at 3 months for general abortions without health reasons. Other countries do have it similar. Only the weird authoritarian countries are banning it. And I don't know of any country that loosens the rules.
