I don't think he's bad I just think our money could be better spent.

I'm surprised that the Havertz bid happened before the one for Rice. we were told multiple times Rice was the number one priority.

Also, seems odd that we would help Chelsea with their books given we are competing with them for Caicedo.

@kuijun @I_am_the_grass they signed him for 62 million, so I wonder if arsenal are making a lower bid as an opportunistic raid.

(Edit) Got my amounts the wrong way round

I think Havertz would be an excellent signing. Chelsea has been a hard place to look good, he's a quality player in a shit environment and would undoubtedly add to our goal tally.

If we could get him for 40 or under then I reckon that would be a great deal.

He's really struggled at Chelsea, hasn't he? Why would we want him? Does anyone rate him?

I mean clearly he has a lot of talent and a unique profile with his height and technicality. Playing in that Chelsea attack must be a nightmare, and I doubt our attackers would look anywhere near their current level if they were in Havertz's shoes.

I'm curious where he would play though. RW? Left 8? False 9? No natural fit, but maybe it's versatility they're after

I think he'd be decent in the Xhaka role maybe? Not sure what we see his ideal position though.

he can play anywhere across the front three, and would be genuine cover for Saka at RW

A lot of us don't rate Havertz, but I have a lot of trust in Arteta.

@DeathWearsANecktie @I_am_the_grass he’s had a lot of hits but also a few misses (sambi, viera?)

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Feel like it's too early to call Vieira a miss. If he does not perform next season then sure. Sambi is a miss for sure. I think we have also leveled up a lot since Sambi came in. If we were still in a position where we were fighting for top 4, then Sambi could work, but now the level has been raised and we need a different level of players. I think Vieira was also bought thinking we would progress slowly to a title challenging team, but our performances last season have put us in a different stratosphere where we now need finished articles and not project players.

@lemon_meringue_tie that’s fair - I hope I’m wrong but I just don’t see it with viera. 🤷‍♂️

Not many rated the Jorginho signing when our interest first broke and now we don't want him to leave. I am mostly concerned about giving 80 million to Chelsea.
