News and Discussions about Reddit
Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.
The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:
Rules
Rule 1- No brigading.
**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **
YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.
Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.
**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **
Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.
Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.
Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.
That's it.
Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.
Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.
Rule 6- Regarding META posts.
Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.
Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.
If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.
Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.
Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.
Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.
Let everyone have their own content.
:::spoiler Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here.
This account exhibits multiple major traits commonly found in karma farming bots. It is extremely likely that u/Yagirlbella_ is a bot made to farm karma, and it is recommended that you downvote their posts to hinder their success.
That's probably the banworthy part, arguably amounts to "brigading."
At this rate they don't even need it to be banworthy, they simply ban stuff that counters their interests and call it a day.
Oh sure, I mean, I couldn't care less what Reddit The Company decides to do with Reddit The Website, or what Reddit The Actual Human Userbase thinks about it. Fuck em all.
But I can also see that bringing consequences on to a bot that calls for mass downvoting of individual accounts could be justified, with disregard to what platform the bot operates on.
Fair.
We're at the point where simply using subs equals brigading to some mods

Would be more impactful if it gave a sample size for the posts. An account that made one repost as its only post is 100% but imo not as convincing as one that made 12 and also has 100%.
It's going to be busy.
I need one for Lemmy if possible
Do karma farming bots even have any point on lemmy though?
Karma farming? Of course not- the lack of account-wide karma means Lemmy accounts are worthless to sell.
Now, bots that push propaganda on the other hand...
Propaganda always seems human everytime I see someone pushing an agenda.
Do you have any examples of potential propaganda bots?
The Media Bias “fact checker” bot is propaganda that attempts to push the Overton Window to the right. It calls objective reality “leftist” all the time.
I was pointing out that pushing propaganda is what would make a bot have a point on Lemmy, not that there actually are bots.
Those wouldn't be detectable in quite the same way as the reddit "repost a post from awhile ago that got a lot of upvotes because that post is proven to be popular" type karma farmer bots though, I'd figure? Especially given that AI nowadays would allow for them to not just repeat the same comments
I wasn't commenting on whether bots actively are on Lemmy, only pointing out that pushing propaganda would be what a bot would do since farming karma is useless.
I'm curious too, the userbase seems too small for anyone to bother
afaik probably no but I still want something similar to this
I tried making something like this for lemmy, kinda cool to see how theirs works.
