Suppose I live in a country with strict governance and limited freedom of expression, yet I still want to tweet about certain political topics. If I purchase a Mullvad VPN subscription using my personal credit card, set up the VPN, and create a ProtonMail account through this network, then use that email to open a Twitter account and start tweeting, could the government trace me if they tried?
