Leaving the fediverse (lemmy.blahaj.zone)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

Man, I was all on board with this idea. Federated instances made so much sense to me. But it's tankies all the way down, and it's just not worth my time anymore. Hell, if the largest instance bans you seconds after you call out a tankie mod, where can you escape? Great idea, terrible execution. Everyone wants lemmy to grow, well, until the nazis and tankies are gone, that shit just ain't gonna happen.

Y'all have fun.

Except the nazis/tankies.

Y'all go play in traffic.

Theres still hundreds of options for you to try, including Kbin which is completely different from Lemmy.

Sounds like you want to either create an account on Lemmy.world where all the tankie and fash instances are already blocked or wait a few weeks/months for the user specific domain blocking update to go through.

Man, I did not realize how much I missed this kind of dumb high school drama type of social media post until I saw this one.

Oh no Brian, please don't go... the Fediverse needs you! 😂

Thanks for the soap opera fix!

You know what's more effective than a post about leaving?

Just leaving.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 year ago (3 children)

I don't see many tankies, maybe its the communities you're subscribed to?

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago

I've seen very little. Theyre mostly congregated on hexbear and keep to themselves unless summoned.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Same here, I have 3 instances blocked and don’t really see tankie crap. Just tons of spam.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Nice instance name!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

i browse nothing but all. I've seen maybe a handful of posts that maybe featured a single tankie in the comments.

granted, I'm on kbin. maybe that's making the difference

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm on kbin too. I haven't seen any of the things that I see a lot of posts complaining about. (Beehaw, hexbear)

I'm also pretty far left. I'm not a tankie though. I'm curious how much of the complaining is just right wingers bitching about reasonable opinions

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I think that's what a lot of this is. I'm at the point where I'm more annoyed about the people complaining about tankies that I ever was about tankies.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

100%.
I'm going to start blocking any complaints about tankies.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You know there is other instances that is more focused on other stuff than what you're referring to right?

Lemmy.world for instance just defederated from Leningrad.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

From Leningrad? Impressive :-D

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 year ago (12 children)

Good luck finding a safe space where everyone agrees only with you.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Or make your own, like the tankie mod is doing.

You're not a train, you don't have to announce your departure.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Do you see "tankies" in the room with you right now?

I've never heard of "tankie" before...can I just google it?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Tankie is a pejorative label generally applied to communists who express support for one-party communist regimes that are associated with Marxism–Leninism, whether contemporary or historical. It is commonly used by anti-authoritarian leftists, including anarchists, libertarian socialists, left communists, democratic socialists, and reformists to criticise Leninism, although the term has seen increasing use by liberals and right‐wing factions as well.

I love how people still think it’s the 1950’s.

Grow up loser dad who probably never got an actual education or has any experience traveling.

From seeing your responses in this thread, your opinion is not what got you banned, your attitude is. You for sure should be banned even if you were talking that way while agreeing with the people that would be banning you.

If you don't want bad things to happen to you on social media, don't post while angry.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

kbin.social + aggressive blocking magazines is pretty cool

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Just ban them yourself, and you will end up with tankie free community.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Tbf, most of the fediverse isn't lemmy.

I just block the instances, which one can do on kbin.social. Easy way to not have to bother with the dictatorship and genocide supporting tankie trash.
