I hope you aren't running abs in an area you will spend time in. It stinks and is very finicky to print. I switched to petg and never looked back. I still have two rolls in their boxes I'm never going to use.

I'm not printing ABS yet. Just bought and am taking proper measures to make it safe to use
Good idea. I have my 3D printer inside an enclosure (Ender 5 with the medium size tent) and attached a ventilation hose to the top of the enclosure using a plywood board.
That hose feeds into my apartments central ventilation unit so all fumes get blown outside. Alternatively you can buy a fan and hang the hose out the windows.
Microplastic is nasty.
You can have any color you want so long as it's black 😁
Start from right to left...
PLA, PETg, ABS
Everything black. However I have a white PLA at the printer
Have fun with the abs.
Welcome to the hobby then 😊 Hope you already have a drybox or other airtight storage, ABS and PETG don't like being stored "outside" once they're out of the sealed bag.
Thanks!
I'm looking for a drybox. Maybe I'll do it myself, with silica gel. However the weather is dry AF in my city this season, so I'm not too much concerned yet
Keep a black and white roll of matte pla on hand. Really comes in handy. Other than that order colors for the project. Dry box solutions are at best a stopgap solution. Better than leaving it out, never as good as a fresh roll though.
Then you should be okay for the most part. Still an active dryer is beneficial for those filaments. I bought a cheapass food dehydrator for about €30 and cut some of the plastic out so a filament roll fits in.
PETG and ABS are easily the most used materials in my prints. I like their properties. But I enjoy ABS only after completing my Voron 2.4 to be honest even though that’s not strictly a requirement.
I just started messing around with ASA on my i3 clone (Monoprice maker select plus aka wanhao i3 plus) while printing parte for my 2.4. I did make a cardboard enclosure for my printer and had to reprint my bed thumbscrews and cooler in ASA, but otherwise it pretty well. I treated it the exact same as PETG, other than bumping temps. I was honestly pretty surprised. Yeah, the prints aren't perfect, but I also spent zero time tuning the printer for ASA beyond a PID tune.
