Pretty excited about a new 2D Mario! I really liked the character animations. It looks like they're really trying to pay homage to 2 and 3

Super Mario RPG remake!
Elephant Mario!
So far, the highlights for me are Super Mario RPG remake, and a new Dragon Quest Monsters installment!
This direct was so good holy shit
This far exceeded my expectations:
- Super Mario Bros. Wonder looks like it could be the best 2D Mario in 25+ years
- The “remake of an SNES classic” rumor turned out to be Super Mario RPG and not Chrono Trigger
- Another new WarioWare on Switch was a surprise
- Pikmin 4 looks solid
- Pikmin 1 and 2 ports are out
But the bad news:
- Pikmin 1/2 more-or-less confirms my suspicion that Nintendo is going to sell emulated or remade GameCube games instead of adding them to Switch Online
- No Tears of the Kingdom DLC yet
- No Metroid Prime 4 updates
After Zelda dropped I had pretty low expectations for this direct but there was a lot of stuff in there!! The one that actually captured my attention the most was Penny's Big Breakaway. All that movement stuff just looks so smooth and fun.
Also stoked for all the Mario love, the art style they're going for with Mario Wonder is so expressive, kinda reminds me of the Mario and Luigi games
I was so stoked with Penny's Big Breakaway's video! I am happy those highly stylized platformers are still being made, just I know it's going to be on some underrated list of games in 5 years.
