Libreoffice is a bit heavy for wordpad. Abiword would be my go to if they still had a windows version.

As far as I can tell its pretty much defunct. There are plenty of malicious versions online though

That is true. I wish there were more wordpad level options for windows without having to step up to a full office suite.
