Hi!

My name is Shay and I’m a techno DJ and producer from Boise, based in Los Angeles. I’ve signed to mau5trap and Factory 93 (Insomniac), and played at festivals like Amsterdam Dance Event and Beyond Wonderland. I’m so excited to come back to play for you this weekend!

While I haven’t lived in Boise since I was 18, I was born and raised there. I grew up having discovered techno and house purely by chance when I was a kid. It wasn’t as commonplace to listen to it - especially for my classmates and family members I was around. I soon bought a “How to DJ” book from Barnes & Nobles with bday money and after graduating high school, ended up heading to a bigger city. Then Mexico for 5 years.

Anyway, in-between that time and now, I’m happy to see that Boise now has a thriving electronic music scene. It’s crazy to think that after playing in all kinds of wild places, I’m able to come back and share the music I love and produce in my hometown.

I’ll leave one of my mixes from playing at Sisyphos in Berlin last year in the comments - I hope you enjoy and hope to see you this Saturday at The Shrine! <3

While I did vote for Harris as well, I think the most important issue on this ballot was Prop 1. There's a reason we are seeing so much fighting and lies coming from Republicans over this issue: They know that they'll lose their stranglehold on power if it is enacted.

Republicans, I mean MAGA, have lost the plot. They aren't even necessarily popular with red voters. Red voters have just been trained to vote R no matter what. They lose in even red states when their barbaric abortion bans are brought up to votes by the people, for example.

We need this. We need sanity back in Idaho. MAGAts don't represent the majority of Idahoans. Most of these idiots are from California telling other natives (even in a literal sense) to leave. These dangerous, selfish pricks have no business being in our legislature. Governor Little has no business being our Governor. And before anyone tries to claim that Little is a moderate, no he isn't. Anyone bending the knee to Trump, i.e. a traitor, is a MAGA and unfit for office.

Let's bring sanity back to Idaho! Also, can we get the cops to investigate Prop 1 signs being vandalized by Republicans? Since, you know, Republicans had no problems doing that themselves while breaking the laws over signage?

One pest control company responded to their first call about the 'roof rat' two years ago. Now they're receiving calls about it every week.

I'll be one of the drivers picking up your leaf bags this year and thought maybe a little AMA on how things work might help us both out this season.

Ask away and I'll answer the best I can.

thanks for the great questions and if you have anymore questions just ask.

I work at an assisted living off state street in Boise next to a Human Bean. If you need a place for your family, I would avoid this company as a whole. Residents rights are being violated (I've had a resident crying to me multiple time about how not only care staff, but THE NURSE treated her), they improperly train staff write you up and still don't train you, the office PARTICIPATES in caregiver drama/gossip, but tells staff to not do it, there is no form of effective communication between staff on any level, they hold only certain staff to policy standards and others can get away with anything and all if this is leading to neglect and a toxic building. The entire building is so toxic even residents know what is happening because the gossip never stops!! They can barely keep staff around, the turn over is the highest I've ever seen. Staff are walking out on the first week if not the first day.

I attempted to report the issues with lack of staffing, and neglect to my administrator and also to the regional director and I in turn got written up for everything I reported. I was given verbal orders and I followed those and was also written up when I did what I was told.

I've been doing this for 15 years and this is not the only facility like this, but it is the WORST. The memory care building just got sued from a patients family! The facility nurses must have gotten their degrees from a cereal box because they do not take reports for patient concerns seriously and by the time they do, the condition is far worse than it should have gotten.

I just thought anyone who needs a place for a family member should avoid this facility. I've worked at many around Idaho and I've never seen this much of a shitshow. And I am taking the proper steps needed to help the residents.

I was driving north on Five Mile and about a dozen trucks, all decked out in Trump flags, were turning from Fairview onto Five Mile blasting their horns. They are definitely not beating the weird accusations.

PARENTS AND INFORMED CITIZENS- If you’re opposed to this, call your district office, your school admin, and school board to tell them you oppose this curriculum. Idaho passed a law in 2021 prohibiting the teaching of CRT (or the Idaho legislatures uninformed definition of critical race theory) in public schools. Now they’re considering using ultra-conservative propaganda to teach young and impressionable minds extremist beliefs. Some examples of the “curriculum”:

“In one video, Candace Owens, a right-wing political commentator, downplays the role white people had in perpetrating slavery and celebrates white men’s contributions to its end.

In another video, Emily Austin, an occasional panelist on Fox News, says that “racism alone wasn’t the primary reason for Nazi Jew-hatred,” and that while Adolf Hitler was a racist, that’s not why “he murdered the Jews.”

In a third, Jeff Flynn-Paul says “that narrative of the ‘stolen country’ or ‘Native American genocide’ does not stand up to scrutiny by any honest historian … It puts one hundred percent of the burden on Europeans, who are held responsible for nearly all historical evil, while so-called indigenous (sic) people are mere victims.”

Flynn-Paul, who is described as a professor at Leiden University in the Netherlands, also describes “nasty wars” and “ethnic cleansing” as commonplace. “No matter who ‘discovered’ the New World, it is inevitable that a large proportion of its inhabitants would have died within the first few decades after contact.””

What’s the purpose of a curriculum that at best, down plays, and at worst, completely fabricates American and World History? What do we gain from white washing our history lessons, teaching kids that Native Americans weren’t sufferers of genocide, that gender wage gaps don’t exist, and that fossil fuels are good for the environment? There’s not an answer to that question that doesn’t involve misogyny, corporate greed, and white supremacy. It’s to socialize kids into majority culture and to disempower any human who doesn’t align with that.

TLDR: Call your school district to oppose this curriculum if you don’t want your children InDoCtRiNaTeD by right wing extremist beliefs.

Ada County is about to make a HUGE mistake if Doug Traubel gets elected sheriff. Extremists like Ammon Bundy back this guy (yes, the same Bundy dodging a $50 million judgment for attacking St. Luke's Hospital), and he's deeply involved in the Constitutional Sheriffs Movement—a cult that literally believes sheriffs can overrule state and federal law.

Even worse? Traubel’s friends in the People's Rights Network want to eliminate Child Protection Services, putting abused children at even greater risk. And let's not forget that the same far-right crowd backing Traubel also supported Bundy's non-Republican run for Idaho Governor—hypocrites who preach loyalty to the GOP while supporting the exact opposite!
