I have a Meteor 65 and 75 with SPI ELRS. This happened to both within a couple of months, wondering if anyone knows what is going on?

  • I was flying around normally having fun
  • I stopped to change batteries
  • Put the new battery in and it only does the first 3 beeps
  • There is no signal on the goggles
  • Plug the flight controller into Betaflight and the VTX (I think) starts smoking

The first time this happened, I cleaned everything up and it started working again but with very poor VTX signal. So I replaced the VTX and shortly after the accelerometer or gyro went out forcing me to replace the flight controller.

Now this just happened again on a different Meteor and before I go through the same steps as last time I'm wondering if anyone has some advice. Thanks.

I've been thinking for a long time about how a functioning FPV community could be created in Fediverse. What would be the right platform for you? How do you get people to overcome the registration hurdle and what is the best way to explain how Fediverse works? I would like to collect a few thoughts here.

"This talk with Lexie Janson was one I made in first place for the german newspaper “wochentaz”. Newspapers have limited space for articles, so the published version was translated, heavily shortened and edited. But the talk was also for people who are further interested in FPV and the other topics covered, so here is the raw, just slightly corrected and shortened version of the audio and the transcript. They also differ a little bit. With all my bad english and embarrassing repetitions, “yeah”s and “okay”s, but also with quite a lot additional information and all the great things Lexie said, including that ones which didn’t make it into the article. One of the main motivations for this text was to do something about the gender gap in technological empowerment."

I'm really hard thinking about if I should quit the hobby in the long run.

Not because it's no fun.

but:

a) it got regulated to hell (places where I can fly legally are really rare now)

b) my hardware is somewhat out of date

I'd have to switch from #frsky and analog video to something new at some point in the future. That's like "replace ALL my gear" expensive.

By "in the long run" I don't mean I have to stop flying right now.

My existing quadcopters work fine and I've got some more recievers to pair to my Taranis QX7 in some drawer. I have enough spare parts to build me another 2 or 3 drones.

But actually getting new gear? For that I'd have to decide on if I really want to upgrade everything.

i.e.: getting me another Split-style camera is pretty much not an option anymore. New/good analog cameras? Yeah, might happen or might just not. Even my old 4in1-module in my QX7 will probably not talk to many new recievers anymore.

It's sad.

#OpenIPC - digital opensource long-range #FPV transmission

#latency seems to be even higher than with DJI/Walksnail/HDZero

So that's clearly not ready. But still, I'd really like to have some open standard! Some good alternative to analoge NTSC/PAL-Video at last?

If you're not aware of who Louis Rossmann is, he is known for his advocacy for Right to Repair and privacy. His reach is much larger than most FPV-centric Youtubers and much more diverse.

Let's talk about drones, wings, planes, boats, anything you fly, drive or steer and have a camera on.
