My main motivation was that it's the same director for Crash Landing on You, which is a drama that sits on a pedestal way ahead of 2nd or 3rd place.

Pros:

  • Like Flower of Evil, you're forced to root for the bad guy
  • Some strong heart-string pulling scenes
  • Strong personality on the actors

Cons:

  • Not depressing enough (Still cried, but it's not Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo)
  • OST has a lot of English lyrics
  • Can we have a good drama that's not about Chaebols?

Neutral:

  • Plot was decent; not as good as Flower of Evil, but fun to follow along. The "seeds" in the plot were seldom deeply rooted, and often just seeding for one episode in advance at a time

Verdict: If you like KDramas, I would recommend it. If you're not into KDramas and just want something to watch, in case its unclear, I'm a shill for Crash Landing on You

Anyone still here? (lemmy.world)

I'm watching Strong Girl Nam-Soon and I don't know anyone that watched Strong Girl Bong-Soon so I can't freak out about it with anyone.

Here's the final discussion for Moving now that it's ended. Spoilers for those who haven't watched it yet.

What are your thoughts on episodes 8-13 of Moving? I'm making a separate post for these episodes because I think the parents' backstories deserve a separate discussion.

No spoilers besides what most people already know about the show - it's sad..

I made a post 2 weeks ago while I was half-way through watching Moon Lovers saying it hurt so much, and yup it still does.

My only regret is I binge watched it, and I wish I hadn't. By not binge-watching, you get to endure the pain and feelings for a longer period of time, and really appreciate the drama more.

Overall, the plot was great, the emotions were pulled very hard, but the writing fell quite short. You could really tell they were planning out the show as they filmed it, and quite a few things felt choppy. If it weren't for the somewhat awkward flow, I would say Scarlet Heart: Ryeo would be my #1 drama ever watched.

The visuals were another thing that was lacking, but I've never seen a drama excel in that area, so as long as you're not expecting Hollywood level scenery you'll be fine.

Based on a comment by @laconicsoftware, I think I'm going to try Mr. Sunshine after a full recovery. Apparently it's sad too, so it might take a while to get started.

Since there's so much content out there, I always have trouble picking something to start watching. One sleepless night I was scrolling through endless netflix trailers anr saw business purposal. I thought "screw it" I'll just start watching it and I was instantly hooked.

I watched the whole series in a couple of days with my wife. We both loved it (although I thought the end was a little weak). But the thing is I've never heard seen any convos about it online. Granted I'm I don't really follow many kdramas groups any longer but still, I figured some people would have talked about it.

Maybe I'm just too late to the discussion? Any other fans out there?

CLOY straight made me depressed for 3 months, but watching Moon Lovers – Scarlet Heart: Ryeo unfold is nothing like anything I thought it would be from reading random comments online. Goddamn. Anyone else want to share this pain with me?

Having just finished watching the show, I thought I'll make a discussion post.

The classic question! Tell us what you've been watching recently.

Hi everyone!

I just realised sometimes you can't see posts from other instance's community if no one from your own instance has joined (or even posted/commented?). So I'm here from lemmy.world to say hello to the community, and also for users from my instance to be able to see this community.

From my understanding, the number of subscribers you see when you searched for the community only shows users from your own instance. For example, when I searched for [email protected] it showed 0 subscriber, because there wasn't anyone from my instance (lemmy.world) who had subscribed yet. Hopefully, now it would show at least 1, if anyone from world wants to sign up.

There were some discussions going on the lemmy.world's [email protected] community. But I realised that was a mastodon community where not only users from lemmy can't see the more active discussions on mastodon, but also ONLY users from the same instance (and apparently mastodon users?) can interact with each other. I created an account on another instance and it displayed a completely different kind of posts.

My thinking is that since Kdrama is still considered a relatively "niche" interest, especially among lemmy users, it would probably be best to combine our users for the time being, rather than having a handful of users on every instance who'd prefer to lurk but nothing to lurk about since no one's talking/posting.

Anyway, hope this is ok.

I'm honestly stoked for more Uncanny Counter. I loved the first series. The posters look pretty cool.

Hi, so good someone made a community. I know nothing about Kdramas but I would like to watch some. What can you recommend?

I would like something cute and chill wit heart melting scenes. On the other end of the spectrum maybe some thriller with some fucked up plot? (thinking in terms of what I use to watch in Korean Movies, read OldBoy).

Thanks.

edit: I watched SquidGame.
