Not sure it applies to sopuli.xyz, but we have seen drama with the .ml domains last year, so just wanted to bring attention to it.

geteilt von: https://toast.ooo/post/3740832

turns out I did my math wrong, so it’s a little less than 30 days

July 12th, 2024 @ midnight EDT

https://canvas.fediverse.events

✨ this year’s event also supports the entire fediverse not just Lemmy!

(you have to be able to make/receive text posts, like mastodon, lemmy, pixelfed, etc) (peertube accounts will not work)

you can get update announcements on other fedi platforms with @[email protected] link

chat about Canvas on Matrix or Discord (they’re bridged)

There's a lot of small kindnesses that we all recieve in our lives, especially as kids, perhaps. But I want to hear of those that you remember.

I was inspired to write this post by something that happened a few years ago. My old cat had stopped eating (for the second time) and he was clearly not well. He was about 17 years old and I took tim to the animal hospital.

The vetrinarian, a woman about my age (28 or so) told me that an examination and potential treatment wasn't going to be the right thing to to. She stayed with me for a long while as they were preparing to put him to sleep. I started crying and she stayed with me and told me how cats will have to face the end one way or another, and that I was doing the right thing. She comforted me through the whole thing. I don't even remember her name, but she was one of the kindest people I'd ever met.

Please share how people have been kind to you

Vladimir Kramnik's way of narration is incredible and his way of thinking and living is so amazing.

It is not the same without Charlie Munger, my guru!

His quips will be missed!

It takes like 20-40 seconds to load the homepage, up to a minute to send a comment (still takes a couple of attempts) and the inbox in sync just seemingly never ends up loading

I guess Sopuli.xyz does not have the same infrastructure as the other fes universes. Found it ever so common for it to be down a lot. Switched sides.

cross-posted from: https://lemmy.world/post/1378961

Had a realization with the cross-posting feature, so I'm giving it a try.

This isn't my community, nor even my home instance, and the fun idea is if this pans out as I think it should, small communities can get some attention, and each community/instance cross-posted to in turn gets some attention!

lemmy.world and lemmy.blahaj.zone got hacked, admins in sopuli.xyz should enforce 2fa for admins and possibly disable/ look into possible injections from the community sidebar

Reddit refugee here, still finding my feet here but enjoying the feel so far.

Can someone clarify something for me?

I'm using the Liftoff app and am registered on Sopuli.

My understanding was that once I was resisted on an instance I'd be able to comment and interact with other instances across the Fediverse?

What I'm finding is (while in app) I find a thread on lemmy.world, I try to upvote or comment but I'm told I need to log into that instance?

Have misunderstood the mechanics of Lemmy or is something else at issue?

let me in! (sopuli.xyz)
submitted 1 year ago by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

This morning, I tried to get into Sopuli, using Firefox on Puppy Linux.

Could I? No! It was rustating. I would say frustrating but I feel ironed out.

I do move between input hardware, so difficult to say what the issue was.

Sadly don't have the interest to chase it down. Just venting. Sorry!

Not entirely sure yet how Lemmy works, but I can't find functionalprint in Kbin through Sopuli. Like this works fine: https://sopuli.xyz/c/[email protected] but this: https://sopuli.xyz/c/[email protected] does not, even though https://kbin.social/m/functionalprint exists. Anyone know why this is?

Never been much for ribbit/rabbit/read it so don't ever remember registering. I like fediverse mentality and extreme ad-minning but which lemmy lemming to jump off the cliff with?

No haters … and liked the Beaver.

Here I iz and likes it

To all of the members who didn't come from Reddit, what inspired you to join Lemmy?

Some people think it's a drag to write a mini essay but I think it shows commitment to building a community.

well, ironically I try to solve this with creating a post. but also my profile shows, that I never created any posts. not sure if this is a Sopuli issue :-\

is it just me?

edit: ok, at least at Sopuli/local it's working. strange thing

Shut down 4 subs I used to moderate. Sure, the biggest only had 200 subscribers (didn't realise it was that high) but I'm doing my part...

Hi, I'm sure this is just a noob lemmy question. I saw on /c/[email protected] that there's a new YouShouldKnow community: https://sopuli.xyz/post/675270

But when I search for it through Sopuli, it doesn't show up, and if I use the ! link in the top comment, it returns a 404 from sopuli. It seems the sopuli server doesn't know about the community yet, how is it supposed to find out about it? Thanks

is it possible to disable live updates, where every so often posts are fetched and added to the top of my feed? I thought I saw a setting for it when I first was checking out lemmy before signing up but now I don't. I don't really like how I browse on the web app and it just floods my page with random posts occasionally. this doesn't seem to happen on the mobile app Jerboa

With just a click, this bookmarklet will redirect you to a foreign community on your native Lemmy instance

It brings your favourite lemmy back home!

If you don’t know what it is, it’s a bookmark that runs a small piece of code that works in all desktop or even mobile browsers

javascript:(function(){
var url = new URL(document.URL);
var baseURL = url.hostname;
var pathname = url.pathname;
window.location.href="https://sopuli.xyz" + pathname + "@" + baseURL;
})();

Usage

  1. Copy the code, replace "https://sopuli.xyz" in the code to URL of your native instance (for example to "https://lemmy.ca")
  2. Create a new bookmark, paste the code from previous step into URL field
  3. Go to a non native lemmy community
  4. Click the bookmarklet in your bookmarks bar to activate it.

I read that when you can't find a community in the server where you created your account, you just search for it with its complete name, in this case [email protected], then it gets fetched to sopuli and you can join. This is not working so far, is it because of a bug a temporary thing that's not working or a configuration in sopuli server?
