While I'm away at University, I want to be able to RDP into my home server which is used for Plex, NAS and a Minecraft server. Unless I am doing something wrong, I can't connect from my laptop (ubuntu) to the home server (win 10) when that server is connected to mullvad (openvpn). Are there any workarounds? I've heard of Anydesk, but haven't tried it yet to see if it works.

I'm using LibreWolf right now as I type this. I downloaded Mullvad Browser and I'm thinking of making the switch. Basically, I used to want anonymity and privacy but since that's not simultaneously possible, I tend to settle for privacy so I can use some social media. I have LibreWolf with a bunch of addons and settings changes but...

If Mullvad Browser safe to log into social media with? It seems to be custom built for anonymity. I know its not safe to log into social media on Tor so my first question is why would it be safe on Mullvad Browser?

If there was some way of having even better privacy while still having anonymity I would take it but it seems too good to be true so I wanted to ask beforehand. The reason I ask is I know Mullvad Browser uses randomized fingerprinting to go with the privacy and antitracking features, unlike Tor which is just same non-unique fingerprint. Will it make any difference?

Also, is it safe to use Mullvad Browser for OSINT?

System: Linux (Debian) I have trouble cuz now after switching to new wifi I cannot connect to it even after uninstalling mullvad app (and rebooting ofc) I’m getting info about no WiFi adapter. Some time ago I had same situation with other vpn provider but uninstalling his app and rebooting the system helped me but in this scenario I cannot do anything, nothing helps (: Do someone of you have any suggestions how can I connect to new WiFi network so I can access network (at all)

so i needed 32 bit one but only got 64 bit so can you pls help with that, server filter menu can be pinned in a way so that can get more visibility as its so dimmly lit that i needed a magnifying glasss hehe jk :) and so far in my case quantum resist to ovpn to wg all seem to be doing good but sometimes some work better on its own and i have no idea whyyy !? this is not bad but just weirdd

and cant you automatically adjust doh https settings for mullvad browser when using vpn as otherwise it will show a warning yellow sign prompting users to dig deeeeeep not realizing that they still remain protected rightt????

I was wondering how I can setup my win10 to have no internet connection at all, only if mullvad vpn is on using the windows firewall. I cant get it to work even though I blocked all connection on private network and allowed mullvad in the firewall to bypass it. I dont have any internet but I cant get mullvad to establish a vpn connection.

Any help is appreciated.

I dont want to rely just on the killswitch from mullvad and have a second layer of protection.

if i want a new account number, and i run out of time on one account, can i just abandon that account and make a new one? if someone gets that old account number, are they able to compromise devices that used to be connected to the VPN through that old account number?

Hi, I'm using firefox with SOCKS5 configured. When I use the mullvad connection test, everything is green except for DNS leak. I followed the guide on how to disable DNS over HTTPS in firefox settings, but the DNS leak test still failed. However when I click on the DNS leak dropdown, it shows IP address undefined. Does anyone know how to resolve this?

macOS Monterey 12.5.1

Tunnelblick default to routing everything outside VPN by default

Qbittorrent and firefox with SOCKS5 set up

Firefox WebRTC disabled, DNS over HTTPS selected to off (use your default DNS resolver)

I am trialing Mullvad on my Ubuntu 22.04 system. When I use Mullvad along side another OpenVPN VPN connection, I can no longer see the other network.

I have enabled local network sharing but still does not work.

My second VPN's gateway is 192.168.113.1 and when I run traceroute it comes back correct:

$ traceroute 192.168.113.1

traceroute to 192.168.113.1 (192.168.113.1), 30 hops max, 60 byte packets

1 192.168.113.1 (192.168.113.1) 262.393 ms 334.909 ms 334.927 ms

However, when I connect to Mullvad VPN with or without Local network sharing enabled, it is clearly routing through Mullvad:

3 * * *

4 * * *

5 * * *

Even after I disconnect from Mullvad VPN, it still routes in the same incorrect way. I have to reconnect to my second VPN to get it working again.

FYI - The second VPN is WireGuard appliance based that I don't administer.

Any suggestions?

Has anyone else noticed that after booting the Mac, Mullvad takes an incredibly long amount of time to establish the first connection to the server? I am talking about 5 minutes, sometimes longer, in which the laptop is unusable since it has no internet.

I am running MacOS Ventura 13.5 (22G74) on a M1 Macbook.

I'm very lazy so I made an IOS shortcut to toggle on/off Mullvad. It uses the API to get some information to tell you where you are connected, etc.

This has never happened before, with earlier versions of the application. Now, with the latest version 2023.4 this has happened twice for me.

What happens is that I can open the application by clicking the Taskbar/Systray icon but the interface of the Mullvad app is totally frozen. If you try and click anything (Switch location, Settings, Disconnect etc.), nothing happens. You cannot even quit the app. It is totally unresponsive.

Anyone else?

Unfortunately, I have to find another VPN since we lost port forwarding, but I really enjoy the Socks5 proxy feature of Mullvad. It allows me to have a different location setup for different tabs in Firefox and that's been really useful for me. I haven't seen any but are there other VPNs out there with this feature?

I keep hearing that Mullvad is better than Nord, Express, etc... mainstream VPNs if you're looking for privacy although it doesn't offer the conveniences that other VPNs offer. If all I care about is privacy and anonymity is Mullvad the best option?

Also, why is Mullvad seen as a very private VPN if it's based in Sweden? Couldn't any EU or US government subpoena them to obtain data on their users? Aren't VPNs usually based in some random island nation like ExpressVPN so that it's not so easy for governments to get access to their data?

I'm using the Mullvad desktop client on Linux. My particular use case is such that I'd prefer to use custom DNS, provided that my DNS traffic is encrypted.

If you navigate to "Settings > VPN Settings > Use custom DNS server", there's a field to enter the IP address of a public DNS server, such as Cloudflare's 1.1.1.1.

If I enter Cloudflare's IP address into that field in the Mullvad app, is my DNS traffic then being routed using unencrypted DNS over port 53, or is it using encrypted DNS-over-HTTPS over port 443?

Not sure if anyone here also has been impacted by the recent restriction of VPNs for F1TV (ER9003).

I've seen some VPNs offer something called SmartDNS which seems to work currently.

Does Mullvad offer anything similar, or if anyone has any other workarounds, I'd love to know.
