I bought this game back in January when it had its winter sale on xbox. I grew up on COD and other similar games, so this was only my second souls game, right after Elden Ring. To say it was hard and frustrating on my first play through would be putting it to lightly. I struggled so hard that it took me until the end of June to finish my first play through(I also deleted the game for about 2 months after dying to that shit throwing ape for the 80th time). But after hours of grueling practice and hundreds of deaths later, I feel like I’ve truly mastered this game, and nothing has made me feel more accomplished with this game than getting that final achievement(all skills unlocked). I know this game was somewhat of a side project for Miyazaki, but I wish he would take the time to make another. Elden Ring was fun but the play style of Sekiro is something I have not found an equal to as of yet. 11/10 game and I will be playing many more playthroughs to come.

Admittedly I suck at Sekiro. I have 58.9 hours in the game and haven't been able to get past Genichiro. I've died to him at least a hundred times now. Have explored everything else up to this point that I can, including defeating all the other bosses up until him. Completed the Hirata Estate, defeated Lady Butterfly without too much problem, practiced for hours and hours with the tutorial npc. Read the guides about how to beat Genichiro by being aggressive, deflecting and learning his moves, mikiri counter etc but every time I get to his third phase I don't have enough health to survive the jumping lightning deflections even with several prayer necklaces and 8 gourd seeds at the very beginning... people talk about the game finally "clicking" for them at this point. For me it's a dead end.Tried again to beat him today for 8 hours but couldn't. My computer was starting to overheat so I went to plug in a fan next to it and slipped. The computer came unplugged and accidently shutdown. When I plugged it back in and tried to restart, blue screen of death. Tried a recovery USB, said system could not be repaired. Tried a Windows USB, says can't be installed on any of my hard-drives. PC is totally bricked for now. I'm going to have to individually remove each hard-drive and save what I can. Hopefully my main drive isn't completely corrupted.I think this is the sign I'm done with this game. It's not for me. In retrospect it's not worth spending 60 hours just to get stuck in the first half of the game, bricking a $2000 PC and potentially losing thousands of hours of work if my hard-drives aren't recoverable. Today sucks.

Genuine question. I bought this game a while back but have a very low end PC so ive never been able to run it, however im going to be housesitting in a couple weeks and have been given access to their PC, which is far better and will definitely be able to run it smoothly. That leaves me from 10am Friday to 6pm Sunday to beat the game if I were to try. Would that be at all possible or am I living in a different reality for even asking.I have never played a fromsoft soulslike before, but have dabbled in the 2D soulslike genre and console action RPGs with vaguely similar combat mechanics. Im aware that neither would be even close to what sekiro can dish out but im persistent and quick to learn. I also dont sleep a lo and rarely touch grass if that improves my chances.edit: ive seen streams and watched playthroughs, im very aware of the story and spoilers so will be rushing through required bosses. this is more of a test of skill than an overall game experience for me

Amazing fight. As a former player who first picked this game up and quit at Juzou, so happy I gave another go. Lady Butterfly took 16 deaths. Gyubou 21. Genichiro was first try which stunned me. Corrupted Monk lost track but probably 50+ deaths. Guardian Ape 32 deaths and now Shinobi Owl 39 deaths before I got to the fucker.Shoutous to double Ichimonji for that fight. Seriously that thing is so boss. Wanna get a Sekiro tattoo end of year or start of next. I'm hooked!

Well, this somehow happened.I'm on my first NG, got to Juzou, and killed him in one try. After removing his second life bar and killing him for realsies, he decided he wanted to be frens. And oddly, the normal puppet timer didn't apply. I ran around with him for a few minutes. I finally had to kill him again in order to proceed through the door he's blocking. Kinda weird.

Man what a fight! Wish I had seen some guide, but all I read was the wiki page for DoH and used the tips from there... Run counterclockwise from his leading leg, kept right up his ass. And I figured out using the Flame Umbrella negated all damage from his huge nuke attack. I couldn't figure out the ranged flame attack (where he burns a path in the ground) Finished all heals, but got him at the end luckily.

Looking at the scene where Sekiro kills him, it seems like the context, voice lines, and animations of the characters suggest that SS Isshin was supposed to stab himself with his sword (hence the guttural shout) and then get beheaded by Sekiro rather than... sitting up aggressively and getting half of his neck chopped. This seeming censorship is also in keeping with the cutscene in the Shura ending where Fromsoft couldn't show Owl holding Genichiro's severed head.

Described as an ambitious project with a low episode count!
