Welcome to a Star Trek community where you’re free to chat and share your opinions about all things Trek!

I want to have a place where fans can come to praise, discuss, and even criticise things in the Star Trek franchise. No show or movie is perfect, and I don't believe people should be silenced for having a dissenting opinion. That being said, there are still a few rules.

Be Nice - No personal attacks. You can disagree with someone's opinion, but it needs to stop there.

No Slurs - This is applicable to ethnicity, religion, gender, or anything else.

No Adult Content - Keep it family friendly.

No Spamming or Trolling - Consistently spamming comments or trolling is just not needed.

Please keep topics Trek related or Trek adjacent for the most part, and have fun!

Hello everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself as the new moderator of the community and give a general idea of what I'm hoping to do. Demigodrick was looking for someone to take over and I figured I would give it my best shot!

I've been a Star Trek fan since I was around 12 or 13, and I've watched quite a bit of it in the intervening years!

This is my current top five show list:

  • 1 - Deep Space Nine
  • 2 - Star Trek
  • 3 - Strange New Worlds
  • 4 - The Next Generation
  • 5 - Lower Decks

I like to collect models of the various ships, and I have a few other collectibles as well.

Over the next couple of days I'll be making some adjustments as I try to get things up and running again. I'm thinking of trying a weekly post asking what episodes people are watching and maybe another one or two depending on the engagement. Is there anything that you would like to see here? I'm hoping to revive the community and make it an interesting place!

Have you watched any Star Trek since last week? I'm thinking of doing a weekly post like this where people can drop the Star Trek shows, movies, or print media that they've consumed in the past week, as well as their thoughts on them.

We’re still a little over 3 weeks before the final season of Discovery starts streaming and some early impressions are starting to appear online.

Not unsurprisingly but still a little worryingly the reviews seem to be saying season 5 isn’t as strong as season 4 was.

Season 4 wasn’t just bad, it was utterly abysmal and season 5 could somehow be worse.

It is worth noting these impressions are only based on the first 4 episodes but session 4 didn’t manage to improve after episode 4 and I doubt season 5 will too.

IGN, who loved the first 4 seasons claim season 5 is on course to stick the landing based on the first 4 episodes.

Does it count as sticking the landing if the show has so far spent its entire run stumbling from badly written episodes, to wasting perfectly good ideas, completely ignoring the source material, going out of its way to antagonise its target audience and has the worst character development in television history?

Discovery is just a mouthpiece for Alex Kurtzmans political agenda and is so far removed from Roddenberry’s vision for Star Trek it has absolutely no business being called Star Trek.

At least once it’s finally finished we can all put the disgrace that has been Star Trek Discovery behind us and start the process of healing.

And if I see Sonequa Martin-Green puts on another display of painful and awkward overacted crying one more time I might just throw a heavy object through my TV.

Are you looking forward to season 5 of Discovery or are you just relieved it’s ending?

FYI

We aren’t StarTrek.website and you’re free to voice your opinions here be they criticism or praise without fear of being banned

Do you recommend watching Start Trek in chronological or release date order?

It’s quite possibly the best looking ship ever seen on-screen.

Not to mention one of the most influential ships in the history of the Federation.

How is it that they gave us an Asian Terran Emperor in Discovery and DIDN’T make her a descendant of Empress Hoshi Sato?

In all likelihood she is Hoshi’s granddaughter (in my head-canon anyway) and everytime Emperor Georgiou was on-screen I was waiting for a mention of Hoshi.

I’m also surprised we have never gotten an official origin story for the Terran Empire given how much screen time they’ve given the alternate universe in DS9 and Discovery. It’s the one thing that actually pisses me off about DS9, they got rid of the Empire.

Is it simply the Roman Empire never fell in that universe?

I hope we see more of the Terrans in Discovery Season 5 but it will probably be kept for the Section 31 movie.

Say what you will about Discovery but the ship is amazing.

At least until Season 3. I HATE those detached nacelles.

As this is a new community I thought it would be fun to get to know each other by sharing our most and least favourite series. (We’ll do the films another time)

Obviously I’ll start.

  1. Deep Space Nine
  2. Voyager
  3. The Next Generation
  4. Enterprise
  5. Picard Season 3
  6. The Original Series
  7. Lower Decks
  8. Strange New Worlds
  9. Prodigy
  10. The Animated Series
  11. Discovery
  12. Picard Seasons 1 & 2

I know I’m kind of cheating by splitting Picard up but season 3 is so different and so far removed from the truly awful first two seasons it deserves its own slot. I do believe Picard has the single worst season in all of Star Trek with season 1 and the single best season in the franchise with season 3.

TNG’s 3rd and 4th seasons come close but I think Picards 3rd season just tops them. That’s a massive credit to Terry Matalas to turn the show around from some of the worst in the franchise to some of the best.

Here’s hoping we get Star Trek Legacy but given Paramounts current financial situation it seems unlikely.

Also Ben Sisko is the GOAT of Starfleet Captains.

What order would you put the series in?

For those of you eagerly anticipating the final season of Star Trek Discovery, you won’t have to wait long.

The 5th and final season will begin streaming on Paramount+ with episodes one and two on April 4th.

It’s likely to be one of only two new seasons of Star Trek in 2024 with Lower Decks season 5 expected in the summer. Strange New Worlds on the other hand is still filming for season 3 with that series not expected to return until 2025.

There’s also the Section 31 movie in the works and what you could call a Discovery spin-off in Starfleet Academy set in Discovery’s take on the 32nd century. Both aren’t expected until 2025 at the earliest.

Are you sad to see Discovery end and are you looking forward to more Kurtzman Trek?

Discovery has proven controversial with fans since it’s beginning in 2017 with many, including myself feeling that it strays too far from what makes Trek, Trek and largely ignored 50+ years of canon to make Star Trek appeal to a “modern audience.”

I wish we had more focus on the Romulans. They were always this big threat but never were really the main villain.

In Enterprise, they could have transitioned to a Romulan war. If even be happy with a new series about it.
