Currently 3 valheim subs. All with very little to zero content. Maybe an idea to merge

New content update is now stable, adding new items, monsters, and mountain caves!

I had an old intel based chromebook gathering dust and I have been wanting to use it as a small web and maybe gameserver. The C202s has the following specs:

  • Intel’s Celeron N3060 - a dual-core SoC running at 1.6GHz
  • 4GB of LPDDR3 RAM

This is just enough to run Valhiems dedicated server!

~~I had to enable development mode~~ (dev mode not actually necessary anymore!) and spin up Chrome's Linux (Beta) VM: Crostini. From there I installed GSM and Valheim and forwarded UDP and TCP ports from Chromes Linux settings. I played for about an hour so far with no issues and it's nice to have a persistent server for others in my household to access. By default it runs Debian Buster so installing stuff is a breeze if you are comfortable with Debian's apt package manager. Unfortunately Valheim won't automatically detect the server, so I had to enter the ip and port manually to connect.

Valheim on Proton works better with OpenGL (34-50fps) than Proton with Vaheim's Vulkan (15-20fps) mode. Native Linux builds are only getting 15-20fps. It's kind of weird considering the lead developer does his work on Linux. I know the game has yet to be optimized, but I fear that Unity is just going to suck on Linux. My specs: Xubuntu 20.04, i5-9600K, 16gb RAM, rx580 8gb, radv and Mesa from oibaf ppa. Anyone experiencing similar performance in this game?

Modder ‘Willybach’ released earlier this week a 1.1GB HD Texture Pack for Valheim that aims to improve most of its textures. This pack covers most Biomes so far and many Building and Crafting textures. Furthermore, and by using AI techniques, it tries to stay as close to the vanilla textures as possible.

As the modder noted, loading times are drastically reduced, as well as performance. Additionally, this pack does not suffer from an issue that reverted rocks back to their vanilla textures.

Hello we play 2-3 people on a server and we thought on maybe asking for more people to join that have similar conversation topics so we can have fun. If you are into libre software this is ok too.. as of now we run the server on my side, but if we have more people I can put it on a vps 24/7.

Vikings! A little over six weeks has passed since the release of Valheim, and a lot has happened since. We have sold 6 million units and our community is steadily growing bigger and stronger, which is absolutely fantastic!

A lot of things are happening within Iron Gate too. We are still working from home, and although we miss our time together at the office, we’re not letting that slow us down! We are very honored to have gotten the opportunity to take part in several interviews, from podcasts and gaming newslets to Swedish television! It has been a hectic time, but worry not! We are of course still working on the game.

Our programmer har since launch worked hard (and still is) on high priority bugs and issues that have been reported by you players, for example networking issues and balance tweaks to our most evil bug, the Deathsquito! If you have any bugs to report, please do so here: https://valheimbugs.featureupvote.com/. There you can see what bugs we have fixed, and are working on! (We are currently waiting for a Steam update from Valve before we push our next patch, thank you so much for your patience!)

A lot of you have reached out and asked about the road map. How’s “Hearth and Home” coming along? Much of our focus has been on play testing and bug fixing, but as things are calming down since launch, we can spend more time working on our first big update! Our lead artist even graciously provided a sneak peek: What do you think this could be?
We have a lot of exciting things planned for this update, and we have of course listened to your feedback and suggestions, and can barely wait until we can show you more.

Here is a picture of the team from our last Hearth and Home-meeting, going strong from our home offices. Have a fantastic weekend, and happy Ostara!

I like to make schematics of my planned builds during lunch breaks, after building it yesterday I realized the side rooms were too narrow so I expanded them here and now I can fix that when I get home

I recently started playing this game and wanted to introduce the community to some Valheim chats that could use members:

Matrix: #Valheim:matrix.org (yes it's case-specific)
XMPP: [email protected]
