Now that the old Hexbear fork has been officially abandoned, this community will be used as a space for meta-discussion on the site itself.

MODERATORS

db0 and Unruffled have both been banned for reactionary behavior and, in the case of the former, DM harassment.

Due to these irreconcilable differences we thought it only right to allow the community to weigh in on defederating immediately.

According to this person "tankie" is anyone that criticizes the privilege of white westerners in the imperial core who have been privileged and comfortable their entire lives off of the backs of colonized people.

As always, use dean-smile to vote for federation and dean-frown to vote for defederation.

dean-frown I swear 90% of the dbzer0 posts I see on the all feed are either /c/[email protected], which we could and frankly should have a local equivalent to; and /c/share_[email protected], which is just Stable Diffusion pictures of random anime characters shared by exactly one person. Both these communities together account for only a small fraction of the all feed. As I see it, defederation from dbzer0 would have virtually no impact on the content available on Hexbear. Those few Hexbears who need access to the content of dbzer0 can always have alt accounts on other Lemmy instances which do federate with them.

Average dbzer0 users have an opportunity to migrate to Hexbear, some already have alt accounts here. I think dbzer0 users should strongly consider migrating here or to any other instance that federates with us, if their home instance's administrators are so incompetent and generally unpleasant, and they desire to have access to the content of Hexbear.

All in all, my recommendation is to create our own piracy community, make sure that users of dbzer0's piracy community know about it, and then defederate.
