Privacy has become a very important issue in modern society, with companies and governments constantly abusing their power, more and more people are waking up to the importance of digital privacy.
In this community everyone is welcome to post links and discuss topics related to privacy.
Some Rules
- Posting a link to a website containing tracking isn't great, if contents of the website are behind a paywall maybe copy them into the post
- Don't promote proprietary software
- Try to keep things on topic
- If you have a question, please try searching for previous discussions, maybe it has already been answered
- Reposts are fine, but should have at least a couple of weeks in between so that the post can reach a new audience

Snapchat has the snap map feature where you can see the location of others who share it and I have seen so many people who have it enabled for ALL their Snapchat friends, while also accepting pretty much anyone as a friend. Scary shit
My nieces and nephews convinced me to get Snapchat, and it was fun entertaining them with the funny filters for about a week, but I noped out of that feature first thing. I ended up deleting the app after the novelty wore off for them because it also sent a ton of promotions, and even though I don't think it could see my contacts with the settings I had, it seemed like the type of app that would abruptly opt me into things without warning.
Also, even with just basic notifications enabled, it managed to send me ads and promotions every week.
I really dislike Snapchat lol
